Acer One Aspire One netbool backup & restore
Acer One Aspire One netbool backup & restore
I have a netbook type Acer Aspire One 532h-2Dr
With Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bits.
I have installed Acronis True Image Home 2010 on it.
My questions are :
1. Can I make an image of the C-disk on a (sufficiently large) USB key ?
2. How can I restore that image afterwards ?
Thanks

The reason for my question is actually the following :
My Acer netbook is in a local network via a router with my desktop.
- Desktop is connected to the router via an ethernet cable.
- Netbook is connected to the router via Wi-Fi.
My desktop has a very large second hard disk that I use for all my backups.
That disk is shared and accessible from my Acer netbook.
I can start a backup (C-Drive Image) with True Image Home 2010 on my Acer Netbook with the second hard disk of my desktop as the target disk.
But the backup takes forever (50% done after 4 hours).
I am looking for a (much) faster solution :-))
Thanks

Hello Picsoe,
Let me help you.
- Of course you can back up your system disk to any kind of external drives if there is enough space.
- To restore the created archive I recommend you to use Acronis Bootable Media. Please create this media, boot within it and restore the archive stored on your USB-drive.
- I may suggest you to use any wired device to save the created backup, such as USB flashdrive, and after that copy the created archive to your desktop PC. It'll take significantly less time since USB writing speed is much faster than the WiFi one.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
Thank you.

Thanks Ilya
I'll buy a fast 32GB USB stick, make it bootable and give it a try.

I bought myself a fast 32GB USB key
I made it a bootable Acronis rescue media
And I have put an image of my Acer Netbook on it - the tib-file is about 15GB and it took about 40 minutes to create the image.
My Acer Aspire One 532h-2Dr has only one hard disk and no CD/DVD reader/writer but it can boot from a USB key, which means that my problem is solved.

I have 2 other questions with respect to this backup
1. Why is it that the estimated time changes constantly 8min, 16min, 7min, 15min, 20min etc in order to take at last about 40min to do the job ?
2. Why is the 15GB backup split up into 4 tib files (3 of 4GB and 1 of 3GB) ?

I just got similar problem.
My Recover CD won't boot Acer Netbook. it just hangs saying "loading Acronis..."
I tried making a USB boot. The Netbook sees it as a boot option, but I get a NTLDR missing when I try to launch
I'm using Acronis 11

Thank you
Meanwhile I reinstalled 7 on he Netbook and then installed Acronis 7.
I tried to restore, and the system restarted without restoring and with no error message

You either didn't read the article I linked, or read it but ignored its advice.
You should have started a new thread, with specifics about your issue. I don't know what you're trying to do or what the problem is. I don't even know what version you use, as you said "Acronis 11" and "Acronis 7". I don't even know which Acronis product you use, as there's no product called just "Acronis".

Ooops,
Too much going on.. Windows 7 or course. My apologies
The Acronis product is obviously True Image
Thank you for your volunteer efforts, but I really see no reason to start a new threat on such closely related issues.

You're still not giving clear details. I'm going to take a break from this thread. You may use the time to review my posts and provide better information.
