Windows won't boot after Try & Decide

Thread needs solution

I recently used Try & Decide for the first time. I installed a few programs, and when everything tested out okay, I turned off Try & Decide and accepted the changes. When Windows was still trying to shut down 24 hours later, I forced a hard reboot, following the advice in the topic created by Demsie. When I restarted the computer, Acronis Loader attempted to start, but errored off. I rebooted a few times, with the same result. I then restored the image that I made before starting this process. Acronis Loader still tries to start, but ends with the message "Unable to execute program. press to proceed...". So basically, I can't start the computer.

I'm running build 6514 under Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

I had a similar problem when I tried Try & Decide for the first time. I was careful not to run certain things such as defrag, chkdsk or change partition size. When I went to apply the changes at boot time Windows (Windows 7 Home Premium) froze in the shut down procedure. I was lucky because I did a full disk backup before trying this utility. After the restore I did not experience the Loader problem you have described.

I was finally able to resolve the problem by restoring to factory defaults, restoring from the image, and then re-installing the programs that I had installed under Try & Decide.

Does anyone have any idea why Windows hangs while shutting down after accepting the updates?
