Clone SSD to spinning hadr drive

Thread needs solution

Is it possible to clone a SSD to a spinning hard drive? No matter what I do, either from within Windows 8 or Acronis boot up CD, it just won't clone. Any ideas please?

That doesn't tell us anything. For example:

- Are the drives recognized?
- Does the process fail? If so, when?
- Is there an error message?
- What OS?
- Where is the drive you're trying to clone to, and how is it connected?

FYI: It would be much safer to create a full disk backup and restore it to the new drive. Clone is risky.

Hello tuttle,
Sorry for the lack of info.
I am running Windows 8 on a I7 system, both drives are connected via internal SATA connectors. If I run True image from within Windows it just hangs after the last step (when it supposed to be cloning), the last time I intended to clone, I waited for over 30 minutes, but nothing ever happened, s I just closed the program. Then I tried to clone booting from True image's CD boot disk, but I get message saying "Operation failed".
True image can see both drives.
The SSD is a Vertex 4 and the spinning drive is an old 320 GB Western digital HD.
Any Ideas?
You mentioned cloning is risky, could you please elaborate? why and how is risky?
Thnsk you for your help

Instead of cloning, do a complete disk backup (using a disk and partition backup type), then boot on the CD and restore on the other disk.
