I am trying to clone, using bootable media which I made < 6 hours ago.
Source: 1 TB Samsung
Free space: 58.2 GB
Destination: WDC 1 TB
Passed WDC HDD Diags
About 5 hours ago, I tried to clone, but received error msgs re: failed read; error code:
0x590001.
I ran chkdsk /r on the source HDD; stayed at 20% of step 4 for approx. 1 hr. I left the machine unattended. Upon my return, the system had booted to Windows.
Using the ATI 14 boot disk [ CD ], which I referenced earlier in this msg, I booted to said disk; selected the Samsung as the Source & the WDC as the destination.
I received the msg: "Operation not permitted" "(0xFFF1)" [ without the quotes ].
I rebooted to W7 [ Samsung HDD ].
In W7 Disk Management, there were 3 partitions on each drive, but the WDC disk is not accessible: "OffLine. The disk is offline because it has a signature collision with another disk that is online.".
I put the WDC HDD into a different computer, running XP Pro and was able to remove 2 of the partitions
While composing this msg, the computer froze. The screen displayed large rectangles, of varying sizes. If a cursor was present, it wasn't in the traditional arrow head shape.
For the past hour, I've been working on the video issue. The computer wouldn't produce a display, not even the Dell splash screen, so I unplugged the computer, removed the graphics card; connected the DVI cable to the port for the integrated graphics; no splash screen. I tried a different graphics card; success. I tried the original graphics card [ the ATI ] and display is present. ]

I have again booted to the bootable ATI 14 CD. Cloning has started. Hopefully, it will finish.
Cloning completed.
Boot to source [ Samsung ] HDD confirmed. :)
