Will Disk Director 11 Home Clone a Hard Drive or Not??

Thread needs solution

I need to perform two hard drive operations. First, I need to CLONE one bootable hard drive to another identical drive. Then I need to do a PARTITION COPY operation from the CLONED bootable drive to a third drive. I will be booting the system from an Acronis bootable CD for both of these operations.

Acronis support tells me that I must use two different Acronis programs to do this. True Image 2011 Home to CLONE the drive and Disk Director 11 Home to do a PARTITION COPY since, according to Acronis support, Disk Director 11 Home will not do a CLONE operation.

However, on the Disk Director 11 Home product page under the Benefits tab, I find this:

"New! Clone disk to a replacement HDD
No need to spend hours installing your old disk's operating system and applications. Disk cloning returns you to action on the new disk in just minutes."

What's the truth here? Can I or can I not do both a DISK CLONE and a PARTITION COPY operation using just Disk Director 11 Home or must I use both products?

Hello Patrick,

I am glad to answer your question.

Acronis Disk Director 11 can clone disks and you can find the step-by-step instruction here. However, please be aware that only basic disks can be cloned with Acronis Disk Director 11. It means that if you have dynamic disks, you really need another program for your purpose.
I'd advise you to perform migration to a new drive using backup/restore operation. Here you can find an example, but you will have similar disk instead of SSD.

Let me know, if you have any additional questions.

Thank you.
