accessing Nonstop backups directly

Thread needs solution

I use Acronis NonStop backup and have found it useful to recover older versions of a data file.
Is it possible to access those files and use them with/in their associated application without using Acronis, i.e. if your system drive went haywire?

I am currently comparing Nonstop with Windows 7 inbuilt facility.

You cannot explore or mount archives generated by non-stop backup. You cannot validate either. I recommend you always have a disk and partition backup or a regular file backup that is not too old for you to go back to in case, for any reason, your NSB archive doesn't meet your expectations when you want to recover. It would be agood idea to use Win7 backup in parallel with NSB. It is not that there are intrinsic issues with NSB, it is more about diversification: technology and backup destination.

Thanks for prompt reply, most appreciated. Your answer confrims my understanding. I actually use NonStop Backup as well as Win 7 backup along with Allway Sync to back all of my data. Plus a full manual backup of that data on a weekly basis.

I have not used NSB before, my previous backups were folders. I am doing the backup on an external drive. It has ran NSB twice, and it says it competed backup, yet there are no backup files on the drive. If I can't get this resolved, I am going back to folder backup.
