External MBR to GPT - will it or won't it?

Thread needs solution

I've been trawling for 2 days on and off with conflicting accounts on the www as to whether TI will, or will not clone an MBR drive to a GPT one.
I'm running 2013 Build 6514 and am unable to clone my nearly full 2 TB desktop drive to my new 4 TB one.
I set it up, as required, to GPT in order to get one large drive (without partitions) but when I try to clone the smaller, MBR drive, as noted in lots of other places, the larger drive is greyed (I’m English) out and not able to be selected.
I’ve tried un-allocating it as suggested elsewhere but it didn’t help.
I don’t need the drive to be bootable or contain the contents of an internal operating system dive, I’m just copying (moving) the contents from one drive to another. Something other people have obviously tried to do and will become an increasing popular.

UPDATE
I’ve tried as many variations as I can think of and eventually went back to visit an old friend that I haven’t seen for a long time – TeraCopy.
All going well so far – 27 hours in, files copied and a third of the way through the CRC check with no errors – fingers crossed!

Maybe the MBR to GPT thing is for the Acronis genii to look into for another day?
