new error message after upgrade
I'm new to windows 8, and Acronis. So please excuse me if I do not post this accurately.
I started using Acronis True Image 2014 with windows 8 in mid sept. It worked perfectly.
In mid oct. when windows 8 had the upgrade to version 8.1, I also upgraded Acronis 2014 to accommodate the upgrade to 8.1.
That is when my problems began and I'm not sure what is causing them and what I need to do to resolve these issues.
I'm having no problem doing a full system (custom) back up. It lists that it is a valid copy, it is backed up, etc.
About a week later, I get a quick message- it's hit or miss that I even spot it, as it stays for only a short time. The message states that I have 10 minutes to do a back up or it will be "timed out".
I quickly hook up the external hard drive and once again do a full back up.
It all goes well, only to have the 3 previous ones found also listed then stating "not backed up yet" even though they have been.
So once I re-back up the one that I got the message for, the program continues to back up all the system back ups again.
Problem is that anywhere from 3-7 days later, this cycle repeats.
I have gone through the process of backing up the ones already done, and trying to make a brand new back up of my entire hard drive.
Nothing is working correctly since I did the Acronis true Image upgrade to accommodate the windows upgrade to version 8.1.
I'm at a loss at what is causing this problem so I have no idea what to try first to resolve this.
Any ideas would be very much appreciated.
Computers in general are also fairly new for me so please forgive my not having actual error message codes, etc.

Thank you for taking the time to try to assist me. I went to the link and although I'm on 2014, I tried all 3 ideas. I can't seem to get into the 3
methods to disable this.
There are no messages that come up asking me so there are no boxes I can check to prevent an auto search of back ups at the start up.
I did try to get into the register editor. It first lists one back up that failed (that was my error that time) and as it is supposed to search for the
remainder of the log so I can hopefully make some choices, the rest just doesn't load no matter how long I leave the program running to finish loading it all for me to review.
I sadly also tried to do a screen shot as you suggested as viewing my "mess" might be of help. It is the first time I've tried to perform this and although I tried to do the screen shot to make sure I had it in a few ways, there is no screen shot visible in the files:(
I have no idea if the back ups that were saved onto the external hard drive will be valid if I ever need them, despite the mess that is occurring on my
log on Acronis of all the different back ups I've tried to do new so I'd have a good one.
I also can't seem to delete anything off of my external hard drive now. I don't want to do "auto" letting Acronis delete in order of my creating the back ups. I want to be able to choose a few that I know I canceled after "backing them up" countless times as requested by the program and giving up
I am low on space now and this is a 2 TB external hard drive.
Any suggestions on how to individually delete one or two back ups? I'm using WD- my passport.
Also, any suggestions on how I can get that screen shot so you can view what is happening.
Plus if no options to make changes show up at the start up of my program (maybe that option did the first time I ran it and I didn't know better), is there a way I can access any of the 3 suggestions so I can disable the auto search for backups at my start up that is another way to do this other than the 3 suggestions given with the link you kindly provided?
I'm at a loss and worried over having even one good secure full system back up in case my computer crashes!!
I truly appreciate your help and time.

One method to capture the entire screen in Windows 8,
if ylu click the keyhoard combination of the Windows Key + Print screen, Win 8 will capture the current screenshot and save it automatically in the PICTURES library. From there, you can find and attach to your posting. Another method would be to do a google search on "How to use Windows 8 snipping tool".
Reviw this link again. Note the part designated with the header 2014 premium.

You need to toggle the blue color from dark to light in order to have the scan for backup options disabled.
The bottom part of that same 2014 example shows how to remove the listing of the task from the list of backups.
Don't delete any listing until after you complete whatever deletion of backups you plan to do.
User chooses what files are to be deleted by TrueImage. Look at the attachment listed with this posting.
http://forum.acronis.com/system/files/delete-backup-file.jpg
The only automatic deletion is when the task is set at to retain a specific number and the program deletes the oldest to retain the user set number of backups to be retained.
As a test, use my attachment as an example. Click on one of the tasks (as per illustration) you want to remove. Does any of the files you wish to delete appear as available for deletion.
Without seeing a picture of your screen, it is diffucult to imagine what you might have.
A screem capture of your storage folder listing your *.tib backup files mgiht help as well.
Edit: Can you explain in more detail "I also can't seem to delete anything off of my external hard drive now. ?

I can't begin to thank you. I spent quite some time trying to find the info to disable the issues with acronis.
Your initial reply made me realize I should try calling my brother. He's the one who recommended I use this program! He did have to check some manuals as he uses windows 7, but did find on my computer where to disable the auto actions Acronis was taking. For whatever reason, after all the
upgrades in mid Oct. Acronis started trying to do incremental updates.
It took until tonight for me to understand all of this.
I should specify that if anyone else with windows 8.1 has this problem and reads this thread, the only way I was able to disable the auto backup from happening was to disable it in the "task manager" itself. I thought it would have been on the Acronis program itself which it must be for most.
I am happy to say that all the settings are as they should be now. The error messages "should" not come up any longer and Acronis should only activate once again when I choose to do a full system back up.
I can't tell you how relieved I am to also learn that the info on my external hard drive is secure no matter what messages I got that the back up was timed out, etc.
I also did take a screen shot of the delete-backup file jpg. you attached. Again thank you. I now understand how to proceed. And this time the screen shot worked. It's a first for me to use that function and I tried a few combinations - not the one you told me would work!!
I think the issues of the program not deleting off the external hard drive was my fault as I just was on over load by then, and I forgot the good old "right click"!!
Being fairly new to all this is not easy! And it can be very embarrassing!
I am giving myself a gift now of not doing the rest of the deleting files on both Acronis and the External Hard drive tonight. I'll edit video footage instead and have some fun and relax for a change. The past few weeks have been so much stress worrying over if my system was backed up or not.
Tomorrow is soon enough to do those tasks, which now I understand how to perform.
I again want to thank you so much for your time. The information you provided was great (especially with the little I really gave to go on!). And thank you for being so patient with my lack of knowledge.
It's safe to say if you don't see yet another response tomorrow that everything else went smoothly as it should.
