File Backup

Thread needs solution

When using 'File Backup,' Acronis creates a folder directory
called 'My backups'

When you prompt the program to perform the backup, it also
creates an 'Acronis True Image Backup' file, NOT a conventional folder.

I would rather that it create another conventional functioning folder.

The image file takes you to the original source data. Its confusing.

I don't like the method employed for incremental back up.

I would rather that it create an exact backup folder, which would be updated incrementally upon command.

Michael,
While you cannot prevent the program creating the folder, the user can control/or override where the backup files are stored so the files can be stored in a folder name of user choice/designation.

Click on link 2 below and note illustrations 7 and 8. #8 is where you make your own choice of storage folder and designate your own name to be assigned to the backup file.

Hello Grover - Thanx for the reply

As I stated, "I would rather create another conventional functioning folder as a backup, NOT an 'Acronis True Image Backup' file"

I do NOT want 'Disc Mode', would rather create a folder that would periodically be INCREMENTALLY backed up manually.

Is this possible?

I tried to find this option in your nice explanations, and could not. Nor could I find illustrations 7 and 8.

I'd love to get a program that functions just like 'Super Duper' for Mac - No such luck ...

Thank you Grover - if this program works for me, I'd like to buy it, before the Dec 5th sale runs out ...

To find illustrations 7-8, click on link 2 below. Then click the green colored link and you should be able to find illustrations 7 and 8 which are in numerical order.

What you describe is not possible using TrueImage. TI makes a copy of your data, compressinig it into a single large file. If you select the full +incremental type backup, then the first backup will be a copy of everything (filesize about 70% of used space); and then the next few backups can just be of the changes between backups before another new full is needed. This is illustration #11-Inc inside of link 2-Green link.

If you have the enough space on your system disk for another partition, you could then use a program such as Karen's Replicator and copy your drive C into that partition and then run Replicator daily and have it copy just the changes each day. I am not sure whether this is what you had in mind. The problem here is when your disk goes bad, you have no current backup as it was lost with the dsik failure. Or, instead of an extra partiton, you could do the same procedure by copying the contents onto a 2nd disk.
