True Image 2012 very slow backup windows 7

I am running version 2012 build 7133. I am doing a full backup, approx 200 Gb to a windows 7 desktop, Seagate 2TB Goflex external drive. It averages about 18 hours, what is the issue?

I am having very similar problems on version 2013 build 6514.
Windows 7 Home Premium, full backup, backup size about 52Gb, over a 1Gbps LAN to a Netgear NAS takes in excess of 20hours to complete.

In addition the synchronisation of data directory to a Windows Server 2011 fails due to timeout.

Not bothering with Online storage - its fine for making individual files available to multiple sites, but as a backup scheme it is just vapourware.
