Incremental backups - acronis 2013 registered

Thread needs solution

Every time I choose Incremental Acronis backs up the whole disk. Is this a bug or has the program simply become obscure in it's old age. I never had this problem with the older versions.

Thanks

When choosing either the incremental backup or the differential backup, Create the appropriate backup task.

Then, the first backup created will be the full which is the base.

After the full has been created, from inside the same backup task which produced the first full,
pressiing the 'BACKUP NOW" option will produce the configured incrmental or differential type backups.

Perhaps this will help. An example of a full after every 10 inc's.

Also a review of link 2 below could help. Particularly illustration 11-Inc.
Note my emphasis on using a Disk Image backup which is the method I recommend rather than individual selection of all partitions.

Thanks Grover. I felt that I had done all that. see attachment. I have always used partition backup since I first started using acronis some 15 years ago.

The screen capture you show is where a new task is created and perhaps choose the Backup Now or Backup later but the only time you use this procedure is when creating an original or new backup task (and perhaps first backup).
but this is NOT the screen to use when you want to create subsequent backups (incrementals) using the same task.

Once you initiate the backup you show, this will create a backup task on your main screen.
All subsequent backups need to be run from inside the original backup task using that "Backup now" option.

Note the next link--especially the top 2-3 inches which is an example of one backup task.
About 2 inches down from the top on extreme right, the "Backup now" option listed there is the one which will create subsequent backups and it is this "BAckup Now" which will enable the incrementals to be performed.

Frankly, I would discourage your use of the "incremental" as the backup type. Its use will cause an excessive number of incremental before another full base is performed. I would strongly urge you consider my prior reference of 11-Inc which is designed to do its own cleanup and prevent a full backup disk caused by too many incrmental backups.

Also, I note the drive letter B is assigned to the System Reserved. Most systems I have see or aware of has the System Reserved created as a "Non-lettered Partition" and this drive letter can be removed in the Windows Disk Management tool. Even with the drive letter removed, it will still be available for inclusion within a backup.

There are benefits (ease of restore) to having your backup type to be a disk option type.
These two links may be of interest.
