acronis true image 2013 is splitting archive as it backs up

For some reason, when I backup my backup to a network location.. acronis is now splitting the archive over several files. I cant figure out why.. i dont have it set to do so and it has never done this in the past..

Anything i should look for here to determine why?

Also, they arent splitting at any certain size.. like the first v1 tib might be 70GB, then the next is 260GB

The remote disk is NTFS

EDIT: the log shows the following:

Pending operation 151 started: 'Creating partition image'.
Error occurred while writing the file.
The specified server cannot perform the requested operation
Reattempting the operation. Error: Error occurred while writing the file..
Error occurred while writing the file.
The specified server cannot perform the requested operation

I'm guessing this is a disk error either on the remote end or the source perhaps.
