Language confusion? / Scheduling ? 2010

Thread needs solution

Hello all,
There may be a clue in the "full backup" and the overwriting problem, if you read what the screen says you really don't have any choice (if i am understanding what is stated)
"Full" check box says (under the select) "Overwrites the existing backup archive". Then in the next choice check box "A new full backup overwrites the previous one" So..... in my understanding you don't get to have any choice as both will do the same thing. Maybe its just some language translation problem. As for now i don't schedule anything or create any tasks. As this just seems to confuse Acronis I do the "one time only thing" which seems to work ok. See attachment Regards Fred

Hello JustPlainFred,

I understand the question and will do everything possible from my side to give you a clear explanation.

“A new full backup overwrites the previous one” refers only to the full backup archives.

“Create a new full backup after…” is used when you want to specify creation of full backup after certain number of incremental or differential backup archives.

In another words if you choose (1) by selecting the Full method, you can also choose what to do with the previous full backup when creating a new one. By default Acronis True Image Home overwrites the previous full backup, but you can choose to keep it by unselecting the A new full backup overwrites the previous one box.

If you choose (2) or (3) by selecting the Create a new full backup after box, the next backups will be incremental (or differential) until the specified number of incremental (differential) backups is reached. After the selected number of incremental or differential backups is made, the next time a new full backup and a set of subsequent incremental (differential) backups will be created; this process will then continue until you decide to change it.

Let me know if you have further questions.

Thank you.
