Migrating from Win XP Home to Win 7 Professional using True Image Home 2010 (build 6053)
I bought a new laptop that is running Win 7 Professional. My existing laptop is running Win XP Home. I would like to transfer all of my application software, favorite places, image files, etc and their settings to the new PC.
I would like to know if someone has done this successfully and if the entire Disk IMAGE will be able to transferred or if only the C: Drive can be done, and if so, what happens to the Registry settings? I understand that I have to convert my backup from .tib to .vhd? My Disk Image resides on an external HDD (Ximeta NetDisk). Where is the converted (.vhd) Image stored when I convert it?

You'll just have to bite the bullet and re-install all your Apps. Browser Favorites can be copied from XP to Win 7. In Xp look under Documents And Settings\UserName while in Win 7 it can be found at Users\UserName.

Sorry but I have a similar question:
I am still using True Image Home 10.
If I backup "files" and "email" on my XP, will I be able to recover all of these win I upgrade to Win 7 Os?
I understand the Apps are gone, but it is email and files, docs I want to be assured True image will recover from one OS version to the other.

Converted from XP to 7 and need access to Acronis True Image Home 11 individual files (tib) to recover address books, etc. to Win 7. Is it possible to convert tib files to doc or txt files so I can just transfer them from my Acronis E: drive to my C: drive?
I was especially cautious and backed up my files just before installing Win 7 but now can't seem to recover them. I am willing to upgrade/replace my current True Image Home 11 with 14 if that will allow the transfer.
Thanks, Jack

Hello Jack,
it is not possible to convert .tib files into .doc or others. However, you can use bootable media or trial version of Acronis True Image 2014 to restore your data.
Thank you.
