Restore problem with win8

Thread needs solution

Hi!
Does anyone know how to make win8 Systems restore Acronis backup&recovery 11.5 Images?
We are using the newest build 37613, where the win8 Support was added.
When we try to restore from CD or USB, using Linux or WinPE(4.0) recovery Acronis Software, the Computer only boots directly into Windows.
It does not Change anything, if we disable UEFI secure boot or not.
Furthermore, it has no effecct if we use 32 or 64 bit Acronis Software.
The Systems tested are two Lenovo Systems:
Lenovo Helix (64 bit)
Lenovo Tablet2 (32bit) , all win8.
What to do?
Having a backup Software which is unable to restore the Images is Kind of useless...
Or is there a converter anywhere to convert the Acronis Images into the native windows8-imaging-format in order to use the Windows in-built Tools for restoring during booting??
Any idea is really appreciated, because if this is not possible to achieve, we Need to stop Acronis products completely.
Thank!!!!

32-bit tablets built on Atom Z (such as Tablet2) don't boot with Acronis media - neither linux-based nor WinPE-based.
Lenovo Helix is not known to have this incompatibility. Does it boot with WinPE 4.0 bootable disk, without Acronis plugin? Does the CD appear in list of boot devices in UEFI menu?

Thanks so much!
I will check for the Helix System again, but my greatest Problem for now is that I have to restore a tablet2 due to a repair.
Do you have any idea how to do this, if Acronis boot media do not work?
And why do the 32bit Versions of Acronis boot media not work (e.g. you can choose to have a 32 bit Distribution in Linux...)
Thanks!!!

You may try to restore the backup to some virtual machine , and create a windows system backup if it can create a 'cold backup' when booted from windows system repair disk, then restore in to the tablet. Not sure if it's possible, though.
32 bit UEFI-only hardware was rather uncommon when UEFI support was being added to Acronis bootable media. It's considered for implementation now, but no concrete dates are set. Moreover, there are reports that Linux distributions have some problems with Cloverview-based tablets. As for problems with WinPE-based media, they're not officially reported yet for Backup&Recovery.

Is the above information still current?

"32-bit tablets built on Atom Z (such as Tablet2) don't boot with Acronis media - neither linux-based nor WinPE-based."

I have just bought the latest Trueimage and any rescue media I create with it (a CD or a USB stick) does not boot the Tablet 2 (win8.0).

I have the secure BIOS disabled.

Even if I go into the BIOS and set the CD drive or the USB stick to be at the top of the boot list, the T2 still just boots into the O/S.

Although it's a Acronis BAckup (not True Iamge) forum, bootable media behaves the same way on 32-bit only atom Z - based tablets with UEFI-only boot -
Linux-based media and 64-bit WinPE media doesn't boot. 32-bit WinPE media won't boot from CD, but there were reports on some tablets enthusiasts forums that it's possible to create 32-bit WinPE media using drivers set from that particular tablet and boot it from USB stick.

Yes - I am realising there is no solution for the Lenovo tablets. I will go for a refund. A pity - I have been using TI for years.

Update: I had a live chat with a rep from here and he gave me an ISO CD boot image to try. It didn't work, so he is going to email me some stuff for collecting reports.

That didn't work either (it hung) so he asked me to use the report collection function in TI itself...

Hello
Try to disable the UEFI and boot the lenovo from it (if it will boot from it, your problem solution is 50% solved, if not, you have problems with the LENOVO)
After your Lenovo boots up from the CD/USB stick, check that you backup and restore the TIB file with the same acronis version.
After you finish, return the UEFI mode back to enable.

David,

As I stated above, UEFI BIOS is disabled.

Neither the USB flash nor a CD recovery media (created with TI 2014) boots the T2. Also the boot image sent to me by your Level 1 tech support booted. They escalated it to Level 2 (hopefully I am using the correct corporate MBA terminology ;)) and then told me that Trueimage does not work on Lenovos and I should get a refund, which I now have done.

I have been sent a boot DVD image by somebody who has one of your corporate products and once I have worked out how to burn that to an ISO image (it is about 5GB, in 8 parts) I will see if that boots.

So try to enable it and check the boot order to boot from the media.
PS- I am not an acronis worker, i am just an happy user :-)

David

My recollection was that I tried it with both enabled and disabled. Do you think the TI boot media might fail with secure boot disabled but would work with secure boot enabled?

I also did ensure that the boot media was #1 in the list.

The boot image sent to me by tech support did "more" than the one my version if TI generated, in that I could see the T2 tablet reading a lot more data from the CD. But the T2 still didn't boot from it.
