I have a Win 8.1/64 test system with 3 hard drives. All SATA
C: Win 8.1 Fully Functional, 300 gig.
D: Spare HD (Formatted with Win8.1 NTFS Fast Format) 500gig
E: TIH 2014 Backup Data Drive 1TB
I restored the C drive image to the new HD (D) with TIH 2014
Booted computer and set BIOS to boot to the spare drive.
The Spare Drive (now listed as C) booted directly to the destop just like the original C drive, however, every 20-30 seconds the screen flashes, icons disappear and re-appear when in desktop mode. If in the Tile mode, NONE of the tile programs work. They attempt to start and just flash the screen and hang. When trying to shut down, there is a reference to SkyDrive error. BUT, this is a duplicate of a fully functional and stable Win 8.1 installation. The only difference is the size of the drive and the volume name.
The ONE thing I did change was to name the volume of the spare dive differently than the original c drive volume. I did that during the Win8.1 NTFS fast Format and prior to restoring the drive.
Normally, I have excellent results with TIH, however, this is a very strange behavior from a restored drive.
It was suppose to be just a simple restore to a new drive. What am I missing with this new Win8.1 fiasco ?

When you rebooted, did you reboot with the old disk inside the computer?
It is necessary to reboot with only the restored disk. After the computer behaves normally, you can connect the older disk

If you avoided this problem, could it be that your new disk is an advanced disk format while your older disk is not?

How big is your new disk compared with the other?

Pat,
Thank you for your reply.
1. Yes, I rebooted with the original "source" drive still in the computer.
2. The source disc is 300gig, the New disc is 500gig.
I will try the restore again, tomorrow morning and post the results.
I'll disconnect the original (source) OS disc before booting to the newly restored disc.

Pat,
I thank you, once again, for your expert and quick replies to our TIH issues.
Your recommendation was quick, easy and most of all a Perfect Fix Solution !
The restore of Win 8.1/64 to the new drive went without a hitch.
I simply disconnected the SATA cable to the original "C" drive, booted with the TIH 2014 boot disk, restored to the new HD and VIOLA.... Everything works perfectly.
The new drive booted fine and is an exact copy of the original disc.
We now have that "Safety Net" that we expected from Acronis.
Very nice to have great MVP Volunteers, like you, to help us.
I appreciate your assistance !
