Wrapper for Parallels Report just runs and runs...
Everytime I look, this process it consuming huge amounts of resources on my machine.
Around 15% of the CPU and 1.5G of RAM.
What is it and how can it be stopped??

No. It is running as part of ATIH 2012.

The name of the file is prl_stat.exe

PRL_stat is the Acronis Reporting Tool (i think), nothing to do with Parallels the VM software. Are you running a 32 or 64 bit system? I'll see what mine is doing.

Scott,
Did you use Windows Task Manager or Windows Process Explorer to find this file running?
In my 64 bit system PRL_stat isn't running whether I have TIH open or closed.
Could you give a little more information as to what True Image tasks you have running, such as do you have ACEP running, or Non Stop Backup etc.

This thing keeps running on my laptop as well (ATIH 2011, build 6868). I brings my laptop to a crawl. Right now there are two instances of the program running - each consuming 25% cpu. I have Nonstop backup running. is it associated with that? How do I keep this resource hog from taking over my pc?

@Melton, Scott
Can you tell us something about your systems -- What windows version, 32/64, how much memory, etc?

Win7-64bit and I am running continuous backup. 12Gig

Mine is doing the same thing, in prl_stat.exe. I'm downloading the latest version of TIH 2011 now, but am not very hopeful given Acronis' abysmal customer service and poor programming.
Running Win 7, 64-bit. Have had this 15% CPU issue before, but that was fixed by removing some file somewhere. I'll have to re-search that out and see if it might help...

Colin B, were you going to try to give us some answer for this?

I was trying to see if there was any commonality in what types of systems were having the problems, and then see if I could force my instillation to have that problem.
Apart from the above posts showing W7 64bit as a common point, I can't get my one to have the problem, though it is running in a VM so that is one difference.
I know Acronis is aware of the problem, so I'm hoping they will have solved it when the next build makes the light of day. When it is issued, I would suggest exporting any current tasks, and uninstalling the current build of 2012, before installing a new build, but only for those who are having this problem, for those that aren't, it should make no difference whether it is installed over the previous build or not.

Latest and previous version of 2011 have the same issue. Going back and looking, my previous 15% CPU usage issue was with a different program interacting with my virus scanner.
This morning, there were two instances of prl_stat.exe running, driving CPU on an i7 to 52%, again Win 7, 64-bit. It seems if 2012 is having the same issue, then there's really no point in upgrading to 2012. I killed both instances of prl_stat.exe; would there be a downside to simply deleting the program file?

Has anyone made any progress with this? I'm using W7 32bit running latest build of 2012 and I am getting frequent prl_stat process runaway using about 50-60% of cpu until I kill the process tree. Have had the same problem since 2011 but seems more prevelant with 2012.

RedKopite,
Which build are you using the 6131 or 5545?
- Se connecter pour poster des commentaires

Hi Colin
Build 6131
I have Nonstop backup running.
Although frequently killing the PRL_STAT process - I am not aware of any problems caused by killing it.

Renaming the offending EXE file apparently makes Non-Stop Backup fail and exit catastrophically.
Sure would be nice to hear from Acronis on this. It'd be really nice to get a fix. Seems every time we upgrade, something else breaks.

I have the same problem. I get 2 instances of prl_stat.exe show up in Task Manager each using about 48% of CPU and over 200Mb RAM. I am running Acronis True Image Home, version 14.0 build 6942 on Windows 7 Utlimate, 32bit. When I kill the 2 processes there does not appear to be any adverse affects but can not tell. However, when I reboot my PC the problem returns.
I noticed in the Acronis Program Event List I am getting 2 instances of 'Error while parsing script file'. The detail for both Events shows 'Event code: 0x0064008A+0x00900004', but when I search the knowledge base nothing is found.
I am running Non-Stop backup to an external USB drive. I can not see anything in the Windows Event Log at the same time that maybe related.
This does appear to have started when I tried to do a full backup to another external USB drive while Non stop Backup was still operational. The backup failed but whether this is related I can not tell.
At the end of the afcdpsrv log file in ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Logs folder I get the following but do not know how to decode what I assume is the the timestamp at the start of each line to see if it is related:

I'm using an internal drive used solely for backups. I gave up on external USB drives when I couldn't do a full system restore following a major OS crash. I tried 2 different 1TB USB drives after that but they always seemed to hang when doing a verification. They didn't seem to like working with very large files. Since rebuilding my system, have never used external drive for non-stop backup so I suspect the fact that you are using one is probably not a contributing factor. For some reason I haven't had the problem for the last 10 days or so. I check every now and then but PRL_STAT isn't running according to the process list. Non-stop backup seems to be running fine in spite of it. I just don't know what invokes the process or why it runs away when it is invoked, nor do I know the impact of killing the process. It is about time Acronis responded. Whilst it may be difficult for them to track down the runaway CPU issue (given the myriad of computer configurations out there), it would be nice if they could at least advise what PRL_STAT does, whether it can be killed and whether there is a way of preventing it from running.

Thanks for the info about issues with the external drives. I'm still getting PRL_STAT running although it does not immediately run. There appears to be some event causing the PRL_STAT to run but without any detail information I can't figure it out.
I have realised the 'parsing script error' I am seeing happens when I start up Acronis and does not appear to occur at the same time as PRL_STAT is running.
Suppose we will have to wait for a fix.

This is also happening to me and has been ongoing for a couple of weeks now. Attached is my system info from the System Information utility.
Please help. I don't want to have to give up my Acronis.
