Hello Thorsten,

No worries, I will help you with this situation.

Let me summarize the information I got from the log, correct me if I'm wrong:

1. Using Acronis True Image Echo Server for Windows you're trying to create the backup of separate files\folders stored on your PC

2. Such backup fails with message "Error creating the file"

This error can occur due to following reasons:

- Some files you're trying to back up are in use by other programs

- Destination storage becomes not accessible for some time during the backup

In this case, please check the recommendations below, they should help you to resolve the issue:

1. If your backup is being saved to some network drive, try decreasing Network Speed by half in our product by choosing Specify the settings manually -> Backup performance -> Network speed; in the same window please find HDD writing speed and reduce it by half too. If above does not help, try to save the backup on internal drive instead of network drive.

2. Reboot your PC and start the backup right after it (to be sure that all programs which may use the files are closed)

3. Please try to perform the operations using Acronis Bootable Media. To create it please follow: Tools -> Create bootable rescue media. Then boot your machine from it and you will be able to use Acronis True Image without booting any OS.
Acronis Bootable Rescue Media is a standalone version of Acronis True Image Home, burned onto a CD and based on a Linux operating system.

Please let me know the results. Additionally to this, you are welcome to ask me any other questions concerning Acronis, and I will assist you further.

Thank you.

Thanks for your help, I tried the first and second advise of you, no success. The third one is rather difficult to try because the server has no CD-Drive.

Do you have any other possible solutions for my Problem?

Hello Thorsten!

Thank you for attaching the log and for notifying us that the issue persists.

It looks like still something is using the file we are backing up, so as far as previous suggestions didn't help, we need to take a closer look at the issue, so could you please kindly gather for us the following:

  1. - Download AcronisInfo
    - Run the downloaded file.

The gathered information will be put in AcronisInfo.zip in the same folder, where the AcronisInfo was saved.

This information will allow us to take a closer look at the Acronis product state and logs.

  2. # Download Process Monitor from  and run it
    # Reproduce the issue without closing the utility
    # Click File ->Save in the main Process Monitor window
    # Select All events and save the log file in the PML, CSV or XML format. It will show us with what process our file is busy.

After you have collected all the information, contact me directly or any other Forum moderator via PM with the info attached: we will review it and find a proper solution.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation and patience!

I will be looking forward for your reply.
