Managed machines are not added to the AMS after installation through group policies

Thread needs solution

I have installed the license server & management server on a workstation (named "pctad030"), which is not the domain controller of our network. This installation seems fine, and I can connect to the management console.

On the domain controller, I created 2 group policy objects and linked them with test workstations. The purpose is to install the agents automatically on the other workstations in an unattended fashion. I have built their transformation files as follows:

mst_gen.vbs /msi_path "u:\Administrator\Acronis Backup\AcronisAgentCore.msi"

mst_gen.vbs /msi_path "u:\Administrator\Acronis Backup\AcronisAgentWindows.msi" /license_server pctad030 /product AS /ams_address pctad030

Both are installed automatically on the workstations during startup, but the workstations do not appear in the management console.

=> Did I miss something? Do I have to create accounts in the domain?

According to the userguide, you need also to use /ams_user parameter to specify AMS user name and password in order to add a machine to it.

The management service connects using ".\ams user".
This user has been created automatically. How can I know its password?

You don't need to specify the 'ams user' account under which the service runs. Any administrator user will work.

I specified a special account that belongs to "domain\Domain Admins" itself belonging to "domain\Administrators".
(try = uninstall using the program "Uninstall Acronis Backup", regenerate the transformation file, remove group policy AppMgmt tracking in the registry, force the group policies, then reboot and let reinstall)

The workstation still does not appear on the management console.

I also repeated the same operations with "domain\Administrator", but that does not work either.

I do not find anything relevant in the event viewer. Is there a log somewhere, that could help?

I even tried putting the special account directly into the "Acronis Centralized Admins" group on the management workstation.

If there are no errors/warning in 'events' log when you connect Management Console directly to the agent, I'd probably contact the support.
