Recovery Problems with True Image 2013
To anyone that can help,
I am running Acronis True Image 2013 build 6514, I have been running True Image 2013 since May 2013 doing weekly differential backups and Monthly full backups (complete disk backups not file backups). A week ago I ran into some computer issues and went to do a recovery and ran into problems. Fortunately I was able to get the computer working without having to recover. However I now realize that I have an issue(s) with Acronis that needs to be resolved in case I do need to recover from a disaster.
So for some background: I have one 256GB SSD which is the drive that I am backing up weekly and contains my OS (Win 7 Pro). I also have two 3TB hard drives setup in a raid 1 (mirroring), this is where I store my Acronis backups of my OS drive. And finally I have a 1.5 TB hard drive that I installed for troubleshooting the issues I am having with Acronis. I also wanted it to be noted that I preformed a validation of my backups yesterday and Acronis reported no issues. Another thing I want to mention is that I do not use Acronis secure zone.
My problem appears to be 2 different issues. The first issue appears to be with my raided 3TB hard drives; when I launch the Acronis Startup Recovery manager (F11) and select recovery the screen shows no backups listed so when I go to browse for backups and select my raided 3TB hard drive I get an error that states “Failed to read from sector ‘-1,541,761,792’” if I proceed to ignore all of these errors I am able to browse the drive for my backups and select them. Upon selecting the backup I am greeted to another error which states “This is not the last volume of the backup archive”. No matter which backup I choose whether it is a full or differential backup the same error appears. I have over a terabyte of backups to choose from and all of them give me the same error message.
So to eliminate the Raid as being an issue I copied all of my backups over to the 1.5 TB hard drive and proceed to try the Acronis Startup Recovery manager (F11). Once I selected recovery no backups were listed so I clicked on browse for backups. When selecting the 1.5 TB hard drive I did NOT get the same “failed to read from sector” error so obviously there is some issue reading from my Raid. However I still got the same “This is not the last volume of the backup archive” on any backup image that I choose. Again I would like to reiterate that all my backups have been validated within the windows environment of Acronis True Image.
So as stated earlier I appear to have two issues. One issues is being able to use my raided 3TB hard drives as storage for my backup images and being able to restore from this raided volume. The second issue being that all my backups give me the “This is not the last volume of the backup archive” error. I truly hope someone can help me with these problems I would hate to have to go back to Windows built in backup since Acronis is so much more robust and I truly like the idea of the Acronis Startup Recovery Manager.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Matt
PS. I did search the forums and I saw the “This is not the last volume of the backup archive” mentioned but the only advice I saw was validate the backups which I did. The other error my google skills failed me.

How about a screen capture showing your tib shorage folder so we can see their names and dates.
Sort the folder into detail mode and date/time. Your screen capture should look something like this.
GH14. Custom Differential Backup Scheme . 6 Diff, Keep 4 chains. & folder
You may want to start a new task and with a new folder. Here is an example of the type configuration you might consider. Change the 2-2 to your own figures, Too many diff in one chain is not good. More frequent full helps to give you more restore options.
GH13. Create Custom Differential Backup Scheme. 2 Diff, Keep 2 chains. The 2-2 is user choice.
