Do not attempt to run backup if destination drive not plugged in
Hi,
Just bought Acronis True Image last week for my wife's pc at home (windows 7).
I've got it all setup and running nicely to a usb hard drive.
I'm trying to make it automatic so my wife doesn't even notice it is there.
I only want the scheduled backup task to run if the correct usb drive has been plugged into the pc.
It may only get plugged in for backup every couple of weeks at no specific time.
Best I could find was to set the task to run at logon and only if the drive is present.
But this doesn't seem to quite cover it, as it pops an alert about a 10 minute delay before aborting task at every logon (when the drive is not plugged in which is most of the time) - is disconcerting, wife mentioned it was some virus warning or something!...
Is there some way to have the job abort immediately with no alerts/popus, or even better not try to start at all, if the correct drive is not plugged in? So need way to test for correct drive as well? (She plugged her phone in the other day and it looked like it might try to backup to that!)
Thanks, Bryce.

I would certainly concur with the remarks of Tatou. I have used the Drive Notify for many months now and it works flawlessly. I have it combined with oracledba's Chain2Gen which is a helper program for TrueImage. Drive Notify (at a time of your scheduling) displays a popup window reminding the user to attach the external drive and the backup program will not begin until the drive is attached and recognized. The C2G program helps me to control how many backups to retain and to control when a new full backup should be initiated. A nice combination and automated.

Thanks Tatou and GroverH - I will check out these programs over the next couple of weeks when I get a chance.
Regards, Bryce.
