How to only clone 1 of 2 partitions

Thread needs solution

Have Vista 32 on one partition & windows 7 64 on the other.
Have a small ssd drive 120gb
Is it possible to only clone the windows 7 partition?
If it's possible can someone walk me thru what I have to do.

Thanks
Hugh

Hugh,

You cannot clone only one partition. Cloning is a process that create an identical disk right away.

What you can do is create is disk and partition backup of your Windows 7 partition and restore it on some other disk using the recovery CD. Note that will require some update of your boot records (something that can be achieved with the installation DVD repair startup function or using the bootrec command line).

Imaging + restore = cloning from a result perspective.

Hi, got the same problem: Bought a new SSD with 240 GB, have a full disk with two partitions. The Windows 7 partition has 200 GB -which would fit perfectly on the new SSD. Why can't Arcronis clone one partition incl. bootrecords for the new SSD? Why doesn't this feature exist? Would Acronis 2015 be able to do it? What is the technical reason for not having this option?

Please read the thread. Pat already gave the answer. "Clone" by definition means an exact copy of an entire disk. What you want is to create a backup and then restore just the desired partition.
