slow cloning speed corrected
thought i'd post this in case it helps someone else - i had posted last night about the incredibly slow cloning speed (approx 15 hours to only clone to 60% mark)
i reformatted the new hard drive this afternoon, and started a new cloning copy. about a minute into it, i disconnected a couple of small backup hard drives (notebook drives) i leave connected. The second i did, Acronis TI2010 stopped the cloning and showed an error in writing, and then showed it couldn't find the "K" drive, which was one of the notebook backup drives i had disconnected.
Not sure why it was looking for the "K" drive as the drive i had selected to clone to was the "J" drive
es
I formatted the new HDD again, and started a 3rd cloning, and this one took about 70 minutl es to clone 140 GB
btw, this was in windows XP Pro on a Gateway computer
and for all the postings re cloning in dos, TI2010 seems to be doing exactly that, as once it starts the cloning task, it asks to reboot the computer, and the TI screen takes over the entire screen before windows has fully opened
if you're having slow copying speed, i'd try disconnecting any other drives you might have connected. I had read the manual and didn't see any mention of that, and still don't know why it was looking for the "K" drive

appreciate the response - but i don't recall seeing that mentioned in the manual either - i've had bad experiences with earlier backup software corrupting scheduled backups (unknown to me till it was too late), so with Acronis, i thought i'd just take a complete picture of the main harddrive
if i install a new hard drive into the computer, i assume i'd need to use the recovery CD to boot
the cloning i did, to a new hard drive connected via USB (i have one of those SATA to USB adaptor sets), anyway the cloning i did seems to have worked perfectly as i then moved that new hard drive to the computer and it's running perfectly and no lost files that i've noticed now, in 2 weeks of useage
