ATIH 2011 Confused about non-stop backups
When I attempted to set up non-stop backup in ATIH 2011, I began with "Use Backup Assistant" on the Welcome page. Under "What do you want to back up?" I chose "My Computer." Under "How do you want to protect your computer?" I chose "Use non-stop protection." That was all straightforward.
The next page, Configure nonstop backup process, showed two items checked, "My Computer," and "My Files" (don't remember the exact wording), and choices for excluding files if desired, destination drive, and file name. Two file names were shown: "My System" and "My Backup."
When I clicked "Start now," Acronis displayed the Main Screen. In the list of My Backups there were TWO new, separate items: "Backing up My system" and "Backing up My BackUp." The progress bar filled in for only the SECOND item, "Backing up My BackUp."
When "Backing up My BackUp" was finished, it showed that 16.1 GB of data had been backed up. But my C:\ drive contains 38.5 GB of data. The item listed as "Backing up My System" remained inactive. Nothing was happening with the progress bar. Not knowing what to do or if my entire system had been backed up, since the backup completed showed only 16 GB, I clicked the "Back up now" button next to "Backing up My System."
To my surprise, the progress bar next to "Backing up My BackUp" (the second item -- which had already completed) began filling in again!
After everything was done, I appear to have two backups of basically equal size (see screenshot attached). When I check my destination drive, I cannot understand what the various backups are! I have something called "Time Explorer Storage" and TWO separate files labeled "My_System.tib" One is followed by a long number and the other is not. The file without a number contains only 14.1 GB of data. The file with the long number contains 34.3 GB, which is the amount of data on my C:\ drive. To further complicate matters, when I click the "My_System.tib" that is not followed by a number, I receive an archive error message! (See screenshot)
I don't know if I somehow requested two separate backups. Can I safely delete one? What is "Time Explorer Storage?" Does it have something to do with non-stop protection?
Sorry for the detailed and lengthy post, but I wanted to provide enough detail to make the issue clear. Believe it or not, I have read extensively in the help manual and still do not have the answers to my questions.
