Can I backup SSD to conventional HD for bootable backup?
I'm replacing my HD with SSD, and will probably use Samsung Data Migration initially to get the SSD as boot device. But I need a full backup solution for two desktops, so I'm buying True Image 2015. My question:
Since I don't want a 2nd expensive SSD sitting around as backup boot drive, can I then use True Image to clone my new SSD Win7/64 boot drive back to an unused conventional hard drive to use as boot device if/when SSD eventually fails? Sorry if this has already been addressed somewhere...if it has been asked and answered specifically, I've been unable to find it...

Thanks, Pat. I guess I am just more comfortable with a weekly cloned backup boot disk than I am restoring images. I'd just like to be able to unplug the failed device and plug in my most recently cloned hard drive to get back up and running. My main concern is knowing if there is anything about an SSD that will make a conventional HD cloned from it unworkable as an emergency boot drive. Thanks, and I appreciate your help!

You can clone a SSD to a HDD, but I would use a recent HDD with advanced format 512e (4k sectors). I cannot guarantee you this is necessary, but I base the recommendation on older posts where users have had trouble cloning 4k disk formats to non advanced format disks. Maybe Acronis cloning technology has evolved since then. The workaround at that time was to do a backup, then a restore, and checking alignment for good measure.
