Problems with Backup, ATI2015
I'm having trouble with backups. I'd been running ATI2014, which seemed to be working well. I backup up two disks (C: and D:) to an external Share (which needs a login, but the Connection tests OK), using a Custom scheme of Full + 6 Differentials, keeping the first.
Since 2015, I still see backups, but when I check the latest, I get an "Error Message". Today's said "Failed to exclusively access a backup file during consolidation. Make sure the file is not opened in other applications." The backup files live on a RAID server dedicated to my PC, I'm the only one with a password, and ATI2015 is the only program trying to access the Backup share.
I also wanted to check on previous backups (the "Log"), which I remember doing in ATI2014. I cannot find where to do this! How do I get ATI2015 to tell me its "Backup History", including when it was successful in doing a backup?
I've noticed a lot of traffic on this board suggesting that ATI2015 is, in some ways, a "step back" from ATI2014. Should I uninstall it and reinstall ATI2014? Are there "issues" with doing this?
Backups are pretty important, especially when you need them! I really appreciate any help/advice on keeping my data safe and reliably backed up.

If you don't like 2015, the best way is to restore the OS prior to the installation. You can uninstall 2015, use the clean up utility, reboot and reinstall 2014, although some users ended up have trouble doing so.
As with previous versions, it is better to create new backups chains when upgrading to a new version. To be clear, restoring older versions with a new version have rarely created problems because of backward compatibility between N and N+1 versions. But continuing backup chains is a source of problems.
The log is not part of the UI of 2015 at this point. YOu will find as a separate file.

Thank you for the reply. Here are two follow-up questions (one is really just a request for clarification).
1. You say it is better to create new backup chains when upgrading. I'm not sure whether I should edit the existing Backup (MyBackup1) (and if so, how to I do that to "create new backup chains"?), or whether to create a new Backup (MyBackup2) and change the scheduling of the original (MyBackup1) so that it is no longer "scheduled". If I create a second (new) Backup scheme, I'm assuming I'll be able to restore a file from either of my two schemes -- does the same hold true if I simply modify an existing Scheme?
2. You say the log is not part of the UI of 2015. Where is it, and how do I view it? As I recall, you were able to use the Log to not only see "what happened" during the Backups (including "What went wrong?") but could also see what files were backed up.

Best to create a new backup task for new different set of backups. Editing or changing setting does not work well is confusing to both the user and the program.
The new task should have a unique name (not used before) and the target is best to be a new sub-folder which contains no other tib files.
Here is an example of how to set up the the new backup scheme (inside the new task) but use your preference of "Store 1 recent version chain" instead of mys example of keeping 4 chains. If you have the storage space, consider keeping more than 1 chain (7 backup files Full + 6 inc).
Set up email notification option for best use of log information. The log folder is named "logs" and found in the Acronis programdata folder
