Thread needs solution

Hello
1-I backup my desktop with Acronis True Image Home 2010.
2- I safely disconnect my external hard drive and back up my laptop.
3-I come back to my desktop and when I plug the cable in to the external hard drive, Acronis tells me ,"I am not fullt protected and need to back up."
This seems to be Acronis recognizing a new drive and telling me to back it up which is wrong as I just backed my system up prior to going to the laptop.
I had to perform a second backup to get rid of the warning.
Why is this happeneing as it is customary to use an external hard drive to back up more than one computer?
Is there a way to avoid this?
Thank you

Pete,

I have answered you in your other post, though I now realise you are using 2010 not 2009.

As I said there, I think your problem is due to your use of Macrium to make a copy of your Acronis image.

There shouldn't be a problem connecting an external drive to different computers. TI is only interested in the images on the disk for recovery purposes and the disk signature and images when running scheduled task.

Are these manual tasks or scheduled ones?

Are you using 1-Click backup?

If you unattach the drive and DON'T connect it to the laptop, and then reboot the desktop and connect the drive to it, does the same problem still occur?

Be aware that TI records the disk signature (which actually shouldn't change) of the disk it is imaging to.
