Acronis True Image "Universal Restore" question

The boot cd of Acronis True Image (pre B&R 10) that I have has
selections for "NORMAL" and "UNIVERSAL RESTORE" backups.
My question is exactly what is the difference in the tib files created
by each method.
Can a Bare Metal Universal Restore only be done if the tib was created by doing a "UNIVERSAL RESTORE" backup?
I would like to hear from someone who actually KNOWS. I can do all
the speculating I need myself.
HAve Fun,
Jerry

I do so as described using AI 2010 and the plus pack.
Before, I performed 2 backups: one of the source system partition and of of the target system partition.
Booting the target pc using the standard Acronis bootable disk created after installing the plus pack I get the following result:
- trying to restore the target system partition I could prompt "universal restore"
- trying to restore the source system partition - as desired - I could NOT prompt "universal restore".
Any hint?
Thanks, Thomas

Hi Thomas,
I fail to understand why you made a backup of the target computer.
With UR, you only need to backup the source computer and then restore it to the target computer with the recovery option ,checking out''Universal Restore'' to complete the restore.
