Installed ATI 2010, Now my scanner is unable to write to HDD - Uninstalled, it works fine. Just want ATI to work as intended.

Thread needs solution

XP SP3
ATI Home 2010

Scanner worked fine before installation, works fine after uninstall, but while ATI 2010 is installed, it says it 'cannot write to folder', so I am assuming that ATI implements some sort of write protection on the drive...?

Yes, the folder is shared, and yes the contents are able to be modified by network users... hence the frustration.

Worked fine before ATI was installed. Works fine now that is is removed, but while ATI is on the machine - no go. The only variable is the presence of ATI 2010. Tested and confirmed on 2 machines - both desktop and laptop.

The 'options' tab yields no area to change any sort of hard drive 'protection' (write protect) that I know of, so I am stuck with a product that I just bought that I can't use - Unless, of course I don't wish to be able to scan documents... Just want ATI to work as intended and not interfere with my scanner/fax.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Didn't work. Went all the way up to 50 - No go.

Any other ideas?

Thanks!

Hi Tom, can I ask which scanner you use? Mine is an old HP scanjet (but a photo quality one still) and the only problems I had with it were because of certain things that their software insisted doing but none of which affected True Image or visa versa (XP SP3).

Sorry - I did follow your link but couldn't find where you got to. Have you tried to uninstall/install the othe way round ?

Hello Bin:

As per the first post:

Also downloaded the latest build, adjusted the IRPStackSize as per the above post

- Nothing.

Scanner works fine as long as ATI 2010 is not on the machine.

Hope this helps.

Thanks!

Try setting the folder as not shared and see if that affects the problem.

A few versions ago, I had to adjust my IRPSTacksize and ended up doing it on all the machines before it worked but I can't remember all the details of what went on. It is certainly implied you only need to do it on the "server" machine.

Hi Tom

It just wasn't clear to me if you had tried to uninstall the scanner software first and then installed ATI and then reinstalled the scanner. I know that might sound odd to some and 'WHY' would you have to but anything is worth trying and it can highlight what the problem could be sometimes. I can assure you the wierdest stuff can make a difference.

Unfortunately it doesn't help me in sorting out why this problem arises, I really wish it did. On a techy level I cannot see where any conflicts would arise even.

Sometimes thinking about it can hide the obvious so hopefully either myself or more probably other fine folk in the forum or from Acronis will come up with a solution.

How about disabling the Acronis Backup Archive Explorer device (timntr.sys) temporarily to see if that has any effect on the scanner?
