Can't restore files because

Thread needs solution

I find that dozens of files, seemingly at random, are missing from a restored backup. For example, I have AnyDVD HD. I keep the original installer as well as a text file with my license key in a folder; the installer will restore just fine, but attempting to restore the document with the license key results in a "The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process." error.

NO, IT ISN'T.

This error message persists across reboots, and pops up no matter how long a time has passed since the last attempt. Closing all background processes I can find makes no difference.

This is getting ridiculous. Between nonstop backup occasionally turning itself off without warning, to zero-length restored files, to this, it's getting obvious that trusting your data to this program is a really bad idea. As soon as I can actually recover the data I'd thought was backed up, I'm out of here.

Hello David,

Let me assist you with this situation. First of all, I'd like to apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with our software.

According to your description it appears that some files were corrupted \ locked on the moment for backup creation. This situation does not affect your PC state after backup. And if the product gives a message about locked file - it means that this file was not accessible during the backup.

So we should figure out why it has happened. What is the type of backup you're trying to restore the data from? Is it My Data or the entire partition backup? If this is a separate data backup, I would recommend you to create a partition backup, because it uses snapshot technology which does capture all files even if they are being used.

Those issues were already addressed by our Development Team, the fix will be available in the next update for Acronis True Image Home 2010.

We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.

Thank you.
