TrueImage Home 2009 - 2012 Upgrade with 2012 Plus Pack - Won't Backup - H E L P

Thread needs solution

Hi All.
Just built a new PC for my Brother-In-Law. Typical situation.... never thought about DR until it was too late!
I can't seem to get Acronis Ti 2012 to Backup the OS or Folders!

Windows 7 32bit. Clean install.
2 HDDs. C: is OS
2nd Drive Partitioned into E: (for Data Files) and F: for Backups (with intention of then also pushing copies of backups off to another 500GB USB Drive attached to the Router. (It's an old Irish thing....."to be sure, to be sure")

Logged on to Acronis Account and downloaded TI Home 2009, TI 2012 Upgrade and 2012 Plus Pack, which I had purchased and installed on an old laptop that I had not used in several years.
Installed each program in the order above, and transferred my License from the old laptop.

Acronis TI starts and seems to work...... until I set up A) OS Drive Backup, and B) Data Folder Backup.

OK. I set up the 2 backup jobs... backing up to F:/ and then off-site copy to the USB Drive.

Neither Backup will work.
Failed to run the task: error occurred while trying to run the task.

Error code search hasn't been very successful.

Has anybody got any suggestions...... PLEASE!

Uninstall and run a cleanup utility so your system is clear of any TrueImage residue.

Then re-install the last issued version of 2012. No prior versions need to be installed but you will need the 2009 serial if 2012 was an upgrade.

You can aLso use the TI Recovery CD to create backups. The 2012 version is compatible with Win7.
You may have some need for the info in signature link 9 below.

Thanks GroverH.
Now Acronis won't uninstall. Comes up with Insufficient Rights message.
Admittedly I am doing it remotely on my Brother-In-Laws PC via TeamViewer.
Control Panel/Programs/Uninstall = No Go
CCleaner Tools Uninstall = No Go
Run downloaded 2012 Software and tried both Remove and Repair = Both No Go.
It may be that it doesn't like TeamViewer Remote connection, so I will have to go over to him and try it directly, but I'm not holding my breath!!!

Try using the TI Cleanup utility. My signature link #4 for 2014 is supposed to work for 2012--or at least its i nternals says it will.
Read the text instructions in detail as some manual edits of registry is required.

Hi again GroverH.
Thanks for the reply.
I did the TI Cleanup. Seemed to work OK.
I think my problems go deeper....

Tried to reinstall 2012, with activation license keys ready.

Gets to the end of installation and then rolls-back due to "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have appropriate permissions to access the item" warning message.

I have changed the Security/Authorisation permissions in the file (http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-system/windo…).
I have migrated the USER Account in case it was corrupted (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/fix-corrupted-user-profile#1…).

But still won't install ! ! ! ! AAARRRGGGHHHH !

Might try the DARK SIDE (Symantec System Recovery Desktop) to see if that works.
