Acronis Server 10 with Universal Restore won't see External Hard drive

Thread needs solution

I upgraded from 9.1 version to 10.0.
The bootable CD boot up, but won't see my External Hard drive.

I called support and he told me to update to latest build 11639 will take care the issue, but as of 4/9/10 1:00pm, there is not any build 11639 at my Acronis registed page.

I think without that build, Acronis should see the USB drives...
It waste so much of my time. Wonder how Acronis release a product like this????

what else can I do ?

I have hit this before with Echo Server bootable CDs and BR10 bootable CDs. The fix I have always found is moving the USB drive to a different USB port. You can even do that with the bootable CD already booted. WHen you switch USB ports you should see a hour glass as the boot cd recognized the USB drive. Be patient. I have had to switch USB ports up to six times before it would finally recognized the USB drive...

Thanks Jim. It doesn't work for me... i had to contact Acronis support to email me link of new bootcd... look like it is working now.... let see how it goes...

The Universal Restore is not doing any good.
I can't bring the image from one old server to another. I put the drivers in, it read it, but when server boot, it shutdown as soon as it see the "Welcome to Windows Server 2003" ...
I think the Universal Restore is the waste of money.

Hi TampaBay. When you posted that you had build 11639 my jaw dropped. Unfortunately is hasn't hit their web page yet ): I have decided not to move to BR10 because of the many, many problems it has but I have used the Universal Restore with Echo Server and cannot say enough good things about it. What and why they did to Version 10 is beyond anybody.

What I would do is go back to Tech Support and have them send you a link to the latest Echo Server boot CD with Universal Restore. You are legally entitled to it since you own Version 10. Try it. At least at that point you will be using someting tried and tested. Something that is know to work. You can't say that about version 10 :) Let me know what happens...

Hello all,

Thank you very much for your posts. I will be happy to assist you.

Jim Becher,

Thank you for your help!

TampaBay,

Most likely our bootable media does not have the necessary drivers to detect your external storage device. Can you please generate this report and ask the support engineer who is working on your case to get it escalated to our Expert team. This way, our Linux expert will be able to create a custom media for you, so that you can use our software without any issues.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you.
