TI 2015-how to specify backup file name?

Thread needs solution

Just purchased TI 2015 - not happy with first impression.
1. Could find a way to give a meaningful name to the backup definition or backup file – now it defaults to disk name, which is useless to me.
2. Could not remove some items from the Exclusion list.

Could not find any useful help online, and support is not free. Really?

Help is most appreciated.

Thank you.

To change the backup name, highlight the task whose name you wish to change, move the mouse over to the right panel and click on the hard to see pencil icon to the right of the name in the main panel. Here you can change the name.

Yep, but it doesn't work for backups to Cloud.

In Acronis TI 2010 I could add automatically current date and time to the backup name.
How can I do this in ATI2015 (installed version)?
Booting from recovery stick this feature seems to be available.

Albert,

This can no longer be done with the current build.

Colin,

you should fire the guys who are responsible for that build, especially those responsible for the GUI.

Is there a way to store a recurring backup task on a rescue media memory stick?
By the way, adding date and time to backup file name is still possible when using a memory stick.

Albert,

I am not employed by Acronis, nor are any of the other MVPs.

There is no way to schedule a task within the Linux environment, with WindowsPE it would require someone to work out a way of running (and possibly including) Windows Event Manager into the WIM file I assume.

In your first reply you stated the above, would you please expand, I do not understand, alternatively could you please post a screen capture.

or

Would it assist if I post a capture?

Edward,

Follow the two images below.

After typing in the new name, click outside the text box and the task name will be updated.

Thank you, GroverH.

This is exactly what I´ve been looking for since I started to use Acronis TI 2015!
I really can´t believe, that these simple settings are not used by default.

I read all comments posted here, and related posts, but have not been able to make this happen.
Not only that, when I rename a file in Windows Explorer, it causes inability to use this file in restore operation.
What am I missing?

Help most appreciated.

Thank you.

Ori,

Don't rename a tib file in Windows Explorer, it should be done through True Image itself.

Colin,

The essence of my post was that I could not get TI2015 to name files in a meaningful way for me.
I have to rename the files for them to be meaningful for me.
Any idea why changing the script did not work for me?
Any idea if this useful feature will ever come back?

Thanks.

As for why the script did not work,
what did you change and what was the result. Can you provide more specifics how the script edit was worded.

Thank you, GroverH for your reply.
I was not able to view the link you sent - not authorized.

Here are the changes I made to the script:
Change this line:

to:

Change this line:

to:

Somehow, TI remembered original lines and named the next backup "I:\Backup\Backup_full_b14_s1_v1-2.tib".

Code not showing - I have attached a text file.

Help most appreciated.

Thank you.

As you see, your edits not posted--probably due to included coding.

Post your edits into a text file and attach the text file.
