Recovery Disk W7 driver for external USB3 mSATA drive
Hi,
I have tried to clone my W7 laptop mSATA HD to a larger one in an external enclosure, and have also tried switching them around, but every time the Recovery disk program starts it fails to recognise the disk in the external housing.
I can use this external housing to access both HD's from either my laptop or another W7 PC.
Which has led me to conclude that the Recovery Disk software is missing a W7 driver for external USB3 mSATA drive.
Does this make sense? Can you confirm one way or another?
Many thanks,
Dave

Thanks, but I cannot find a link or message folder which contains any information to download & apply this build...
Can you guide me?
:-)

Che,
Thanks for the ISO, but I am sorry, I have downloaded it but cannot work or find out how to use it to set up a USB version of the Recovery Disk. (My laptop does not include a CD drive)
Can you point me in the right direction.
Kind regards,

I take it then you do not have a bootable Recovery Media USB stick that you created from the True Image application? If yes then you have not used the Recovery Media at all. What you have tried to do in this case I suspect is use the built in backup feature from within Windows to attempt your backup of the mSATA disk, is that correct? If yes then I think you have a different problem than what the ISO addresses.

I do have a bootable Recovery Media USB stick that I created from the True Image application, but I thought that this ISO was either supposed to replace it or or be used to rebuild it.
I understood that this ISO contained the USB3 external (mSATA) disk driver that was missing from the earlier builds.
My problem is that when I boot to the Recovery Media, as part of the Cloning process, I simply cannot find/see my external disk. (And this is the same whether I boot using the USB or my Laptop HD version of the Recovery Media)
I hope this is now clear.
Kind regards,
Dave

Yes it is now clear what your issue is. Since the Windows installed True Image application cannot recognize the drive it is doubtful that the recovery media can either. mSATA drives are a hit and miss proposition. Some of them will work with the app and some do not.
Another thing I should point out to you is that performing a clone of a laptop is a bit different than a desktop. For laptops the recommended procedure is that you first remove the original (source) drive from the laptop. You then install the new (target) drive in the laptop connected to the same connectors that the source drive was attached to. You would then boot the laptop using the recovery media to perform the clone operation. If you tried doing it this way you may have a far different result.
The ISO provided needs to be burned to a stand alone media, USB stick in your case, just as the other recovery media was that you already have. It does not update the current recovery media that you created it is a full replacement and needs to be on it's on media.
My suggestion to you is to create a new recovery media using the ISO provided, follow the instructions outlined above for cloning a laptop, and see if anything changes.

Hi Che,
I am sure that I could not have done this any more wrong than have, because nowhere in my story have I mentioned that I am running W7 Pro 64 bit...
and I think the ISO you have sent me is 32 bit, can I ask you to check?
I am so sorry for being such a typical User, I should know better,
Dave

The ISO sent to you is Linux based and will run on your 64 bit W7 Pro machine. In fact Windows will not be involved in running of this app at all in case you did not know that. The old Recovery Media that you created is also Linux based unless that creation was a WinPE based media and if that is the case then what you have in the new version is a different horse all together!

It's me again,
So there is something else I don't understand...
I have used an 'ISO to USB' app to burn the ISO file you sent me to a USB, which seemed to run without any issue.
However when I try to reboot and start the Recovery Media from this USB, I get a "Remove any Disks or Other media & Press any key to restart" error message.
I still have the USB which I created from ATI 2015, which I have also retried, and this one does boot into ATI correctly. (Of course this version does not recognise my external mSATA drive)
When I simply look at these 2 USB's through windows explorer they look completely different, and the one containing the new build, seems to be missing a lot of stuff.
Does this make sense to you? Could you send me the ISO once more? (Or is there no point)
Thanks for you patience,
Dave
