Restore Files From Full Backup
I wish to restore certain files from a full backup. According to the "help" files, I'm to open acronis, go to backup tab, select backup, go to right window pane and select files to restore. THERE is where the problem is. I DON'T get any more info on the main window except for the backups that I've created.
How can I "open" the window to see the files within my backup? I've tried everything.
Windows XP, SP3 .... Latest Build of Full Version of Acronis 2015

Thanks for your attempt to help, but the examples that you give do no match the Acronis 15 screen that I now see. My screen (see attached) doesn't even include section found in the "help" section on how to recover files.

Here is the 2015 help page.
http://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/ATI2015/index.html#7…
the below is mostly for 2014.

Well, that doesn't help at all! I have already looked at the help page (see original post) and the illustration doesn't match what I'm seeing (see original post & my view in 2nd post). I'm afraid there's just not much help here.
Now it forces me to "validate" my backups before it allows me to even try to look at the files I've backed up! This is one weird product!
I'm losing faith in this software and on top of that, you have to PAY for support! I have "freeware" image programs that seem to act better than this. I now don't have the confidence it will restore my system in the event of failure. Bad vibe. Seems I made a mistake.
P.S.
After "validation", now I get this error message! When I "send it in" Acronis says it doesn't recognize it ... hence, no help or information as to what's going on! I'm 66 years old and have never run into a more fouled up program that doesn't seem to be mature at this date. Are we beta testers? What's up with this stuff?

gwillmot,
1. Private message received.
2. Did you try to use the instructions (Recovering files in Windows Explorer) from the 2015 help file ? This usually works when all else fails.
http://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/ATI2015/index.html#7…
That specific instruction works like this:
Browse inside Windows Explorer to the storage folder where the tib backup file is located.
Double click on the tib backup file you wish to copy files from.
A new window should open and you should find the beginnings of your backup file such as the backup name or the drive C icon..
Inside that backup file window, keep clicking the icon until drive C is listed.
In the C directory tree, click on the folder "users"
Then click on the folder with your name
At this point, you should have access to any of your folders such as documents or pictures, etc.
RIGHT click on any file and the copy option should appear.
From there you can copy and paste any file or folder you wish.
3. Regarding your screen capture
https://forum.acronis.com/system/files/forum/2015/08/95661/willmot_acro…
Your picture is missing the option "Recover files" and this option should be adjacent to the "Operations" tab.
This "Recover files" option is essential to the recovery via the program inside Windows.
The backup is pointing to your drive D as the storage location. Was drive D attached when you took that picture?
or attach D and see if the Recovery option appears.
Likewise , on G:\system backups. Is G attached? If you select the task whch uses drive G, does the recover option appear?
Until you can get the Recover option to appear, you cannot recover inside the program within Windows--only via the Exlplorer as liisted in item 2.
If the Recovery option is still not listed, click on the link at the bottom left corner window and use the option "add existing backup" and then browse to the tib storage folder and and select the tib files and click the add to list option.
My apologies if my description does not exactly match the exact sequences.
The 2015 version is not the version I have installed currently!
Let us know the results. If you still need assistance, perhaps another volunteer user with 2015 can be more helpful.

1. Thanks for getting back to me
2. Yes, I can do that, but I'm more concerned about a program that I paid money for that doesn't work as advertised.
3. Drive "D" was/is attached when I took screenshot and created the backup. There is NO "Recover Files" option at all under or adjacent to the "Operations" tab. I even did a short "File" backup and tried to recover files from it. No dice ..... I get the same error when I try to recover files. via the User Interface (loosely speaking as it doesn't seem to interface what I want it to!) I re-connected "G" drive and it wants me to validate backup again, so that is what is underway now.
I tried the "add existing backup" trick you recommended, but it did not change the display nor the options that were available to me.
It appears that there is something corrupted in this installation and I'm afraid to attempt to delete and reinstall based on what I've read in the forums. I may just stick with what I have and hope that help is on the way with a new version. I'm pretty sure that v15 is the cause of this mess.

Yes, I would agree that the best fix for this issue now would be to run the TI Cleanup utility and start over with a fresh install of TrueImage.
While 2016 is in beta testing and probably released this fall, I would discourge from installing it overtop a system which is corrupt.
I would still cleanup 2015 before installing 2016.
----------------------------------------
Acronis advertised they help with recovery issues so if I were you, I would pursue getting support from them.
STart in the upper right corner of this webpage and fill in a support request with you have a "Recovery" issue.
There is LiveChat and/or email.
-----------------------------------------
Access to your backup files is stilll possible.
If you need your files, you can still try the method using the Windows Explorer,
or you can boot to your TI Recvoery CD and restore from the CD.
Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

I am pleased to report that all is well now. I did a complete uninstall, then reinstalled True Image 15. Voila'! All is working as advertised.
Thanks for the help, but it appears that it was a corrupt install. Good luck to all!
