Recovering Entire PC backup on new system - what am I missing?

Thread needs solution

I have Acronis True Image 2015 Unlimited for PC and Mac for 3 computers - Build 6613.

My old Windows 7 system is dying so I purchased a new PC that is also Windows 7. I want to recover my data, apps, and files to my new Windows 7 from the backup I did on my dying system.

I can't see the forest for the trees. I've spent all day reading and cannot find a simple Do This, then Do That for recovering on a new system. I'm techy - but not that techy so some of what I've read is foreign to me.

I have downloaded Acronis True Image 2015 to both the old and new machines.
I have completed an Entire PC backup on the old Windows 7 system to an external 3TB HD
I have created the Universal Restore & Bootable Media Builder on the old Windows 7 system on a DVD

I've plugged my external HD with the backup into my new system.
I inserted the Universal Restore & Bootable Media Builder DVD from the old system into the new system

I half expected the Universal Restore would auto-launch and there to be an option in the Acronis app to select Recover PC and let me point to the external HD, but no such luck.

But now what? I'm totally lost and missing something- I just don't know what.

I missing something. I just don't know what. Any help providing a Step 1, Step 2 fix to this is GREATLY appreciated.

Thank you Berti. I've been to that page often.

Since I posted, I booted my new machine from my old system's Universal Restore & Bootable Media Builder. Everything went well I guess. It said Success.

But there is nothing to tell me what I need to do now to get my Entire PC backup that's on my external HD to my new system. I can see the backups in Windows Explorer, but don't how to get them onto my system. I saw an option to "Mount" them to new drive letters, but I don't think that's what I'm wanting to do (is it?)

Thanks again for your reply Berti.

With 2015, a universal restore is happening in 2 distinct phases.
First, you restore the image on the computer using the regular recovery medium.
Then you boot the computer on the Universal Restore recovery medium to insert the new drivers in the restored image.
Then you can try to reboot the restored computer.

Yes, this is where I am having a problem. It is the HOW do you restore the image on the computer using the regular recovery medium? I don't know what the "regular recovery medium" is, nor how to restore the image.

My old system's Entire PC backup is on an external hard drive
It is now plugged into my new system.

But I don't know the steps I need to take to restore the image from my external hard drive to this new system.

Is it done by going through some steps in the Acronis True Image application? If so, what are those steps?
Is it done by viewing my external hard drive in Windows Explorer and double-clicking a specific file to begin the restore process to this new system? If so, which file would that be?

I'm sorry if I sound so ignorant. I've been staring at this all day and reading page after page in the knowledge base to find the answers to what (I think) should be a simple answer.

I do thank you sincerely for your response

To restore the image you need the Acronis recovery medium. You can create one using the application. If you have a computer with ATI (Acronis True Image) installed, launch ATI, select the tools icon in the left nagivation panel, and choose rescue media builder.
AFter you have created your USB flash drive or CD this way, boot the computer on it.
Let us know when you are there.

Read this also, that will take you through the next steps. The guide is for ATI 2012, but the UI didn't change much.
