Thread needs solution

I bought the 2011 version of Acronis true image . And use in now then .. I was running out of room on my hard drive and installed an extra drive. I deleted true image and installed it on the new hard drive. it will not take the serial number I used for the older version. installed the older version . Did I lose my product just by moving it ???

Did you delete the old version or did you uninstall the old version?

If the 2011 was an upgrade versiion rather than the standard version, you will need to input the serial of the version you used prior to t he 2011 upgrade.

The serial number for any version you have registered is available from your Acronis webaccount.

It is also possible to perform full backups from the TI Recovery CD so installation is not a requirement by Acronis--just yourself.

I too have a similar problem - I have bought a new machine & want to transfer Trueimage2013 to it - the upgrade serial number results in a request for the original serial number, but any of the serial numbers from Acronis's site are rejected as invalid. Where do I go from here? Old machine ran Win XP, new one is Windows7. I was intending to restore from my backups. Bill

Have you tried de-activating the xp installation before installing onto Win7.

Normally, you need both new serial and the old serial for which the version purchased was a full version,
What does your webaccount show for serials. The serials should be identified as full or upgrades.

I have the following :-
True Image 2013 by Acronis Upgrade (United Kingdom) 1 license(s)
Acronis True Image Home 2011 Upgrade (United Kingdom) 1 license(s)
Acronis True Image 2009 Home Upgrade (United Kingdom) 1 license(s)
Acronis True Image 10 Home (English) 1 license(s)
Acronis Partition Expert 2003 Personal (English) 1 license(s)

I am not getting to the point of being told that I do not have a spare slot, the error message specifically says that there is an error in the serial number. If I go back to the last non-upgrade version, True Image 10, the much shorter serial number is not recognised as a valid serial number.
To avoid typos, I am cutting and pasting from the Acronis site.

Is this problem caused by the length of the upgrade path? I am/was concerned about disabling the working copy lest I end up with no functional support on either Machine.
The old machine is destined to be a Linux "Sand box" to play on, so won't be needing back up.

PS How do you De-activate an installation? From looking at other posts it seems to be via the help button, my ? button provides no obvious access to this sort of action - change serial number is the nearest

Egg on face!! I have successfully installed & recovered files.

- In my defence, I didn't see the second box on the screen for the previous serial number it was very indistinct, I therefore assumed that the two serial numbers were to be entered sequentially in the "Serial Number" box!
If the boxes could be made a bit more obvious or even if the focus was to switch to the second box ie the cursor to move there, it would simplify things.
Thanks for your reply, sorry about the red herring - at least I have shown you another own goal to offer up next time you get this sort of error.

I have an upgrade version never had an old version serial need to reinstall true image 2013 how do I get that serial

Did you possibly have the Seagate verson or the WD version installed and then upgraded to the Acronis version?

If yes, you will probably need to re-install the Seagate/WD version and then install Acronis and the single serial.
