Incremental backups

Thread needs solution

I have used True Image through many of its versions, but have always used full backup. This takes many hours and I want to start taking advantage of incrementals. I just updated 2015, having done my last full backup on June 30th. I opened it and see that there are two files, a day apart, but with the same name. I want to do an incremental on my last full, but can not find any way to start adding incrementals. Do I have to set up for incremental mode and remove and redo my last, or can I start adding increments to my last FULL?

Although the product supports editing backup tasks, the results can be confusing and unexpected for the users, resulting in issues at recovery time.

Move your last full backup to another directory for safekeeping, on the same disk, to avoid a long file copy. Delete your backup task from ATI and create a new one. Set it up as an incremental task. Choose to produce a new full backup after X incremental, and to keep only the last Y backup chains. Remember that you need at least enough space for a new full backup before ATI deletes an older backup chain.
Keep the number of incremental low enough so that your last full backup will never get too old for you to go back to. If you need to protect critical files more often, use a file backup or other backup technique.

These may help. GH12 is an example as recommended by MVP Pat L

Depending upon the type of backup scheme you wish to create, here is an example of each type. These can be set up for Disk image, or Partiton, or Files-folders backups. These example show how to set up automatic cleanup so the program will do the deletion after it reaches your set goal of how many chains to retain.

Editing an existing task is not recommended. Rarely does an edited task perform to user expectations. It is usually better to start with a new task using a new non-identical task name and point to a new storage sub-folder so each task has it own storage folder/sub-folder. Old task can be stopped or deleted from the task listings.
