Hello,

Windows 10 is not supported OS yet (as per documentation), however, Disk Director 12 works under it.
The installation issue investigation needs more technical information.

It makes sense to try to install ADD using a compatibility mode and select Windows 7 (or 8): http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/make-older-programs-run#1TC=…

If it does not help, please contact our support team for further investigation of the installation issue: http://www.acronis.com/support/

Best regards.

Greetings....

After reading that, I installed DD12 on my new Win10 machine. However, it shows my disk -- all partitions -- to be "unsupported" (see screenshot)!

I must have miss read or miss understood something. Is DD12/Win10 support coming soon??

Hi Robert,
sorry for this confusion.
Alexander shared results of his personal observations. However, Windows 10 is not officially supported by Acronis Disk Director 12 yet.
Thank you for your understanding!

So, when may we expect a working DD12 ??

Now on Win10, I need to reorganize two on my internal drives and one external e-sata connected drive!

ADD 12 version 3223 was installed on two of my PC's when they were running W7/64 and were still there when W10 was installed. However if your HDD is formatted GPT, Add12 shows disk data grayed out. It seems an MBR system still works. Will have to wait until a new version comes out for GPT support etc.

It's still possible to use W10 Control Panel > System & Security > Administrative Tools > Create & format hard disk partitions for some of the operations that Add12 did. Can't you do that?

Hi XYZbird. Just use Macrium which employs Windows engine.

Now I must persevere with Acronis.

Just did fresh PC build. Win10 64bit latest media downloaded onto USB stick. Brand new Samsung 850 EVO SSD not initialised (ie untouched).

Did clean install of Windows and let it deal with SSD. It created the usual 3 GPT partitons. All went well.

As I usually do I put my ADD12.3219 DVD into the PC to create a new partiton D: for backups etc.

To my surprise I also find I cannot use ADD12 to resize or create new partition. All drives are greyed out with comment 'unsupported'.

This is rediculous. It means I cannot walk up to a 'Windows 10 pre-installed' machine using GPT with my ADD12 DVD and do my works.

When will ADD12 support operations on GPT disks ??? Do I need to create a WinPE DVD with ADD12 installed and if so how ?

Cheers, Bruce.

Bruce,

If you change the disk layout view from "Windows 10" to "Bootable media environment," Disk Director can modify the GPT disks.

Thanks Joey. That worked like a dream.

I've got a full list of functions for each GPT partition as before with MBR.

Great. Bruce.

Just a cautionary word. The Rescue Media Builder for ATI2016 does not load DD12 if you have the two pieces of software. Luckily I have a USB Boot Key produced when I had ATI2015 + DD12 working on Windows 7 which works as Joey's post above.

My Question is to complicated to explain with my knowledge of English, so I will do it in German

Kein Erfolg

Hi xyzbird.

Re yours of 2015-11-12.

When DD12 came out, and then ATI2014 came out, I also had a compatibility problem with installed Acronis products.

I can't remember the exact scenario of versions installed, but I tried to have Drive Monitor, True Image and DD all installed at the same time. I could not achieve this and suffered all sorts of problems with install failures, hangs, crashes etc.

I contacted Acronis support who basically said some of the files in their older products were overwriting files in the more modern products. They said start by wiping all Acronis products using the Acronis Cleanup Utility see here https://kb.acronis.com/content/40366 (use with care). Then install products commencing with the oldest first, followed by each newer product, and finally install the newest product. By this they meant one judges the 'newness' of a product by when it came out. This they said is based on the fact that when installing, newer products can be / are aware of the existance of older products and take the necessary steps. But if you already installed a newer product, and then try to install an older product the older product is not aware of the newer one which was not in existance when it was created, and so it might trash things.

This means that when you set up your Acronis installs, you really need to do them all in the right order starting from scratch. After that one should not try to uninstall, reinstall, introduce new products/upgrades to your mix. For example, if you try to upgrade an older product you have already installed that would seem fine for that product. But it could trash a different newer product you have installed.

To get round these problems I do the following. After a new build I install the oldest product which hasn't changed for years: Drive Monitor. I just leave it in the system. Next I install True Image to do my dumps etc. I can upgrade/change that as I like as those files are always newer than the Drive Monitor files. I never install DD. I just use the bootable media as and when I need to operate on disks/partitions etc. This strategy works fine. Hope this helps you.

Bruce.

Well, DD12 is working now, with Win-10-Pro (!!)

What happend?

When DD12 start's, it used to say  "no item for display".
At one time I had a telefoncall, when I came back DD12 showed all info's

if you start DD12 in Win-10 a few times, it seem, the waitung is shorter and the "no item" changes to "loading"

a "self-learning effect"????   .
