Misbehaving software

Thread needs solution

My installation (ATI 2016) doesn't run as expected. I currently have a back set to run every week but not only do I not recieve a system tray reminder that the backup needs to run, but I no longer receive email notifications that it has(/n't) succesfully run. Furthermore the icon does not appear in the taskbar and it is not available from the Windows (8.1) 'Customise' screen.

I have attempted a 'repair' via 'Programs and Features' but nothing improved. Is there anything else I can do before I reluctantly reinstalling and if I do go down that route, would it affect my backup settings?

Thanks in advance

Believe it or not, I end up reinstalling ATI relatively often for some reason or another. I always uninstall, reboot, and create new tasks in empty directories. You can also "add" an existing backup and then reconfigure the backup, but I personally prefer setting new tasks. I simply copy the older backup files to another directory on the same volume, and then delete them manually later.

Reinstalling fixes a lot of issues. If you had an older version of ATI on Windows 8 or below, using the cleanup utility from Acronis can also help.

Hello,

Please let me know if reinstallation does not help.

About email notification - This issue might be similar to https://forum.acronis.com/forum/111793 (There are some solutions in that thread).

Best regards.

That is in many ways a somewhat shocking indictment of the product. I see time and time again in the forums the advice to 'reinstall or try a repair'. All these (many and varied) problems need addressing at a fundamental level if the product (and quite possibly the company) is to survive.
