Recover files from Nonstop Backup -> Error while copying - interface not supported
I want to copy a file from a nonstop backup from Acronis True Image 2016 over the file explorer as in Acronis True Image itself I cannot find the file. When I select Copy with a right click, I get an error message sayinf that the interface is not supported, when I translate it correct. In German the message is "Schnittstelle nicht unterstützt". I tried to copy it to an USB stick, to another hard disk, without success. Any ideas, what it missing to get that file out of the .tib backup?

TC

I am not sure that copying from a Non-stop backup TIB file is supported. I know it is for regular file backups and disk backups.
Try to recover the file from the ATI interface. Does it work?

The ATI interface does not allow me to choose the file from the other day, which I can see when walking through the tib file over the windows explorer. And the file explorer allows me from the right click menu to select Open/Copy, but the error message tells me, that the interface is not supported. So how can I choose the correct date in the ATI interface? There I can only get the last broken version of the file, just before the Windows machine got a BSOD. But an older version is available over the windows explorer with the correct file size.

You should be able to select the date at which you want to restore when you use the ATI program interface.

I will create this evening a screen shot about the possibilities according to the Inbox file I need. I can only choose a corrupt Inbox file with the date of the crash. The correct file of one or two days before I can only see over the windows explorer using the tib file. But I will upload it later today.

Hi,
Unfortunately, the copy-paste from the archive of nonstop backup is restricted due to the functionality of this feature. The only possible way to recover is using the interface. When you chose “Recover the files”, you will have two boxes in the upper right corner. There you can choose the version of the file you need to recover. The backups are consolidated, so you should be able to find it.

I have now attached three files. One is showing the correct 2MB file, I want to have. One is showing the available files on 26 October with the Acronis interface, where my file is missing. When I choose all versions, I only get a broken file of 972KB, which cannot be read by Thunderbird. This is from the last BSOD. I don't see any chance of getting the file over the Acronis TI recovery mode. The same is happening, when I look at the TIB file booting over an USB acronis recovery stick.
Any ideas? TC

I have the same problem. In FileExplorer I can find the correct version of the file I want to restore, but I cannot open it. If I copy and paste I get the message that the interface is not supported.
When I try to locate the file within Acronis Program I cannot browse down to the file level to find it. How am I supposed to recover an individual version of 1 file?

@Thorsten, so you cannot select an older version by changing the selection in the upper right boxes (backup version and date)?

Yes, you are right. The version I can see in file explorer is not available in the Acronis interface. See the screenshots I have uploaded! And it sounds that Michael has the same problem. TC

And it is good to read, that someone else has the same problem!!! Thanks Michael for pointing on the same issue.

I have submitted this problem(and others!) to the Support Desk, but they do not seem to react at the weekend.
I have been messing around with this program for 5 days now, since I bought it, and I am beginning to regret the purchase. It is just wasting too much of my time trying to get it to work.

I am using Acronis since many years. Acronis has changed the Nonstop Backup system with ATI2015, which hasn't worked on my Windows 7 system at all. ATI 2016 and Windows 10 is working, but I cannot get the right files back. Until AIT 2014 I was always happy with Acronis True Image. I hope they will find the bug soon and they will return to their good quality software until 2014.

I am still searching for a solution to get back my copy of a file over the tib file explorer. I see a correct version with the correct size, but when I try to copy it the hard disk, I still get "interface not supported".

Hello, everyone.
The fact that a file can be seen when browsing the backup in Windows Explorer does not mean that the file is actually in said backup version. The reason being that even if a file is deleted from the directory it will still show up in every new backup from that point on.
So what I'm trying to say is you should not rely on what you see in Windows Explorer. The True Image interface more accurately reflects the actual contents of the backup.
Thorsten, are you sure that the file you're looking for ('Inbox') is not in an earlier version of the backup?
