Moving a mirror image to a new disk drive

Thread needs solution

I just purchased an SSD drive that I will use to replace the current hard drive on my laptop.  My question is can I use the mirror image I made of the original hard drive to copy over to the SSD and will it retain the proper formatting, registry info and other essential data so I can use the SSD when the mirror is transferred?  Thank you.

Frank, I'm not sure what you mean by a mirror image, but if you mean you took a complete "disk" image in Acronis already and are planning to push that image back to the SSD and install that SSD in the same system, then yes, it will look and feel exaclty like the original disk - all files, folders, settings, customizations, etc.  The MSR partion gets moved in the process, but this is blank space on the disk and Acronis updates the necessary pointers so that it has no impact on Windows recovery functions.  Other than that modification that happens in the background, your system will boot exactly like the original disk does and you should notice no difference (other than the increased speed and performance you'll be gaining from upgading to an SSD).  Please be sure that your original backup image is indeed a full disk image with all partions on the disk and if it isn't, then take another one first and push that back.
