ATI 2016 build 6027 stopped working

Thread needs solution

I have been running  Acronis True Image 2016  on a Windows 10 system for many months. A few days ago Acronis True Image 2016 stopped working.  It hung on an incremental backup.  Attempts to stop the backup sat at "Processing...".

A repair was the only way to get out of this.  Any attemp to backup (existing or new) results in it sitting at "Calcluating time remaining...".  It does not create a backup file at all.

What can I try to fix this?

Paul, without knowing more about the system or seeing any backup logs, I have 3 guesses:

1) You may be running out of space on your backup drive - verify that you have plenty of space for new backups to be created.

2) Are you writing backups to a network share?  If so, have you changed the credentials (new password, changed from local account to a Windows account, or modified the share in any way)?

3) Volume Shadow Service (VSS) is not functioning on your system correctly.  Try disabling VSS and see if backup run after that as Acronis will default to its onn propriertary Snapapi backup system instead then.  See this thread for 3 ways to disable VSS...

Thanks.  I also tried verion 2015 and that failed too.  I restored a recent full system image and it all works fine again now,  I suspect that it was an issue with VSS. I'll try that if it reoccurs.  Thanks again.

Glad to hear it.  Hopefully you won't have to test down the road!
