Whole Disk Encryption with Mcafee Endpoint Encryption

No idea if TI2010 changed anything but I don't think so but the only real way to know is to test it on your system.

TI needs to understand the file structure of the disk to do a normal image and this typically isn't the case with an encrypted partition/disk. The normally recommended best method is to do a sector-by-sector image which backs up all the sectors in the partition, not just the in-use ones. This makes images much larger than normal and also takes more time since there are more sectors to image.

Then there is the issue of restoring. While you can get the image to restore, it depends on whether or not the encryption software will be happy with it or will sense that something has changed, particularly if the disk or disk structure gets changed.

Hi, I tried with Win7 to do the image back up --it worked, but when I did a restore, it failed with a End Point Encryption error --obviously it knew there was a problem (violation of the integrity). tomorrow night I will try the sector by sector and deal with a bigger image too. Will report back. Did anybody figure out how to do it?

i need to do this also.. before EEPC tru image saw 2 partitions on my Hd which was correct. it backed up and restored ok. After EEPC acronis only sees one partion and does not know what size it is. BAckup starts but later says my destination disk is full (not true)..

any ideas??

nothing like answering your own questions eh!!.. anyway.. i was using the "backup my pc" function instead of the "clone disk" function. I tried "clone disk" and IT WORKS!!! it copied sector by sector my laptop to a USB disk of the exact same size. I then took that disk out of the USB case and put it in my laptop and it asked me for my EEPC password and then booted ok!!.. Acronis is the best!!!
