Thinking of updating from TI 8 to Home 2010 TI

Thread needs solution

I imagine that I'll have to uninstall my version 8 before installing the 2010 version of TI.

What I'm worried about is destroying my ver. 8 Secure Zone in order to do this. That means if I don't like ver 2010, all my past backups to the secure zone with ver. 8 will be gone.

The only reason I want to change versions is because of the encryption capability of 2010.

Is there a way I can save my ver. 8 Secure Zone and use it again if I decide to uninstall the trial 2010 version?

If I could be sure of the security of the password protection in version 8, I don't think I'd change versions. I use a random passphrase for the backups. Does anyone have any idea how secure is TI's method of password/passphrase method of protection?

Hello JoeV,

Let me shed some light on your concern.

Please note that when you uninstall the software itself, Acronis Secure Zone and all backup stored there will stay intact. So there's no need to wonder - you can uninstall Acronis True Image 8 and install the trial version Acronis True Image 2010 and use your old Secure Zone.

As for the password - it's really secure, we've add some additional encryption since version 8, so it's almost impossible to decrypt it.

Please reply to this thread if you have any additional questions.

Thank you.
