Back up now button doesn't work

Thread needs solution

Just upgraded from ATI 2014 to ATI 2015 build 5539 on Windows 7 64 bit system. Install went fine. Disc back up works great. File Backup fails miserably. I set source, destination, incremental, schedule, save and then click Back Up Now button. The button changes color when clicked so you'd think it was working but no such luck. Nothing to let you know a backup is occurring at all pops up. The file backup plan shows in the left column and main window. The save destination is in another folder than the disc backup on the same external drive. There is over 800Gbs of space for only 41GBs of file backups so space isn't the issue. I do get a message at the top "backup is postponed. To run the backup, click "back up now". I do that and get no results. At this stage, there is no run backup in 1 hour, 3 hours, etc, later dropdown option. I've let it sit to the next day, no changes. I've deleted the file backup 3 times and set it up as new backup. Same results. Same failure. The disc backup has the green check in the left column. The file backup does not. Any ideas what the problem might be? I e-mailed Acronis last Saturday with no response. Thanks

If you look in your acronis account, have you been issued with a case number yet?

Check the Scheduling advance options to make sure that

Click the task name.
Click operations/Reconfigure
Click Options (bottom row left)
click Advanced Setting
The "Run the backup only when the computer is idle" must be UNCHECKED.
If correction made, click OK button
If correction not necessary, click he CANCEL BUTTON.

Also, instead of clicking the "Backup Now option",
click the Down arrow (lower right corner) and click LATER.
then, If you want to do the backup now, then click task name and click the Back Up now Option in lower right corner.

Does that work for you?

Colin,
I do see a case number in my account from 9/27. Hopefully I'll hear something soon.

Grover,
Took your advice and checked and yes, the "run the backup when computer is idle" is unchecked. Unfortunately, there is no down arrow on the "Back Up Now" button. I did see it when setting up both disc and file backups. It disappeared when I tried the "Backup Now" button. I've deleted and recreated this file backup 3 or 4 times now. The last time I selected "one hour" and no change.

Well, what do you know! I deleted this current file backup and recreated it one more time, following your "later" option and it worked. It backing up my files even as we speak.

Thanks for your advice gentlemen! Appreciate it very much.

Thank You GroverH :-)

Sorry my english ist not good.
I had the same Problem and Acronis German did not give me an answer.
I did wait 2 Weeks for an answer....
That is very poor...

But now you did help me to solve this Problem.
It was the Click LATER Problem...

Thank you very much :-)

To both, you are more than welcome.
Johann,
When you post a question on the forum, most responses will be from other users--not Acronis.

If you want an answer from Acronis (first 30 days of purchase), you need to complete a support request ticket.
More information along left margins "How to get support."

Hello Everyone!

Johann Förster, I'm glad to know that Grover's suggestion could help! But I'd like to check the situation with lack of response of Acronis support. I wasn't able to find any support cases or feedback registered under email address related to your forum account. Can you please clarify in which way you contacted Acronis?

Thank you in advance!

Anna,
I did receive a response from my e-mail request (case 02275652) to Acronis Support from Vikas Mann yesterday, 9/30. Very friendly. He offered suggestions to correct my problem, but GroverH had already saved the day. I told Vikas "thank you" and confirmed he could close the case.

In Acronis 2015 German Version is a Menu Feedback, called "Rückmeldung".
There I posted my Problem. Do the Feedback not work in the German Version?

Best Regards from Austria :-)
Johann

NOTE: I've fixed the issue I describe below. I went to this site https://kb.acronis.com/content/1518 and downloaded the scheduler and ran it. Now, the button initiated a backup.

I've had a similar issue. The button would not work. I clicked on the little arrow to the right of the operation name (in the left bar). Then I selected "Validate". It then told me that I was missing backup 3 and 2. I browsed to the folder where they were saved and selected them. Once I hit the backup button, the green check by the backup operation name goes grey again and will not turn green until I validate again. It no longer asks me for the missing backups but it still will not do a backup. I do not have the "only backup when idle" checked.
