It is not possible to add machine to management server with windows XP

Hello,

I have problem with installation of agent on Windows XP computers. Agent installation is succesfull but then it is not added to management server. On target machine there is only message" the Monitor is unable to connect to Agen, reconnecting". When I try to add computer manually, I get following error:

The required service on the remote machine is not started. Start the service and retry the connection.

But all services on target remote machine are up and running.

Hi,

have you checked the firewall settings on both machines?

When you install the Agent for Windows on the target machine (Win XP) it will add several firewall rules.

 

But have the same issue under following conditions (some other issue may exist).

- Windows XP SP2 MUI, no Domain member
- Username for installation of Acronis Agent is the same as the hostname
- Machine has two NICs, DNS reports wrong IP address (one NIC is not connected in my case)
- Machine time (Win XP) is 14 minutes behind (might be conficting SSL/certificate check)

After installation the current user is not been added to the Acronis Remote Users group (because hostname = username ?)

MMS is not starting while installation nor after reboot.

Maybe some of my issues are related to yours.

- Firewall settings are correct

- Installation of agent is done under one service account, MMS service is running, Remote Agent service as well.

- time sync is from domain and time is correct

- current user is in correct groups (acronis remote user)

However still not working.

How are you manually adding the machine? Do you get the same message for both method 1 and 2 in this article: https://kb.acronis.com/content/58348 ?

If yes, I would suggest contacting support. There is probably an issue with the networking part of the service itself. This will require an investigation (mms.exe process dumps etc.).

Also, since this is an XP machine, I would suggest making sure that "simplified file sharing" option is disabled (this can cause issues in my experience).
