Unsatisfied with Acronis 12. When will Startup Recovery Manager be re-integrated. What's with Grandfather-Father-Son backup sche

Thread needs solution

At first I'm very, very unsatisfied with Acronis 12. From my site it won the prize for the worst software development in 2016. But it became reality, unfortunately and we've to work with.

I've three questions:

1. When the wonderful Acronis Startup Recovery Manager that was installed into the boot sector of the hard disk will be re-integrated into Acronis 12?

2. For companies we're serving I often created the backup scheme Grandfather-Father-Son with these retention policies: daily, incremental, 5 days / weekly, differential, 5 weeks and monthly, full, 6 months. Weekly/monthly on Saturday.

For example one server have has 250 GB to backup on three partitions (C:, D:, E:). The daily backup (incremental) with Acronis 11.7 took between 40 to 60 minutes. With Acronis 12 it takes between 3 to 8 hours(!!!!) altough the data backup didn't grow that much. I have this behaviour on 6 servers. What's the reason that under Acronis 12 incremental backup took up to 8 times longer?

3. When will the retention policy re-integrated that backups will be deletet if the media is in a lack of space/full  (very important for backups on USB HDDs)?

Hope you can help.

Hi

1. Acronis Startup Recovery Manager will be added in the next update (it is almost re-integrated).

2. Please, provide screenshot of the backup plan in Acronis Backup 12. Also, please create support ticket for this issue - it is not normal.

3. We have this feature in our backlog, we will add it in one of the updates, but it will not be included in the nearest update.

Thank you for your answers, which are more than frustrating.

ad 2. I will open a case for this issue as you recommened.

ad 3. We service several companies in IT services. Usually we make a GFS backup scheme with a NAS as destination and a separate full backup on a USB drive which is changed weekly. Till Acronis 11.7 we could use USB drives on which old backups were deleted automatically in case of a lack of space. Now, we have to do this job MANUALLY (in 2017!!!!!!) for every client(!!!). What do you think we're telling our clients that there is more in costs at all? They will congratulate us? No. From this view your software is a real danger for our company.

If possible we will downgrade alle already upgraded machines back to 11.7 on OUR costs. After that we won't renew any Acronis again and look for a different solution provider.

What you've done with Acronis 12 was to much to us Tekkies. You're responsible for bringing a total buggy software to the market. Never ever.
