New External HD-how best to transfer backups from old external HD
I have Acronis True Image Home 2010, and have been using it since last November. I just bought a new 1T external HD, and want to replace the old with the new. My computer has WinXP Pro, SP3.
I want to keep all of the Acronis backups I have on the old external drive, and transfer them to the new external drive. What is the best way to do this? Is there something I should use in Acronis itself, or should I just drag & drop using Windows Explorer?
Thanks much,
EJH

You could also use free program suich as Karen's Replicator which is very fast and easy to use. Configure it do copy from one folder to another and it will do the job without you babysitting the transfer.

Once you have them copied, it would be prudent to boot into the TI Rescue CD and validate a couple of the backups so you know they did not become corrupt from the drag & drop or from Karen's copy.
Also suggest that you only have the external connected prior to your intended use. Why allow it to be at risk from a virus or power strike.
