CD Drive Not Detected in DD11 OSS, Cannot install new OS

Thread needs solution

I just installed DD11, which appears to be working well as far as disk partitioning in Windows 7 64 bit. I activated the operating system selector in order to install Vista 64 bit side-by-side with Windows 7. The CD drive does not show up in the OSS startup screen. I made sure that the box that directs OSS to not load the CD drivers was unchecked.

So, I am not only not able to install Windows Vista, I cannot install any operating system that boots from a CD drive. I am using an HP Presario dv3t-2000 notebook.

You should be able to install Vista manually:

  1. Make a backup of the drive before you start (this is recommended).
  2. Boot to the DD CD and use DD to setup the Vista partition. Make note of which partition is Active for Windows 7. Set the Vista partition Active.
  3. Install Vista, making sure to select the correct partition.
  4. After Vista has been installed, boot to the DD CD and set the original Windows 7 partition Active (this will be the partition you noted earlier).
  5. When you reboot the computer, it should start Windows 7.
  6. Run OSS and it should find Vista.
  7. Configure your OSS menu entries how you want (hiding partitions, etc.).

NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

I do not expect use work arounds like this with new software. I bought the thing to have it do everything for me.

I want a refund. And, I see that this attitude of Acronis ... NOT TO FIX KNOWN PROBLEMS over generations of software.

My firm will cancel all orders from Acronis.
